PC Is it possible to choose which mobs appear in different worlds in Minecraft for PC?

My cousin has Minecraft on his PS3 and on it he is able to choose which mobs appear in different worlds he creates. I am wondering if this is also available in the PC version of Minecraft.
Also if this can't be done using legitimate in game methods (Changing options before you create a world) can it be done by moding. (I just don't like magic stuff so I don't want zombies or witches to spawn.)

I would like an answer because it will effect my decision on buying it.
 
In creative, you can carry "Spawn Eggs" with you, which let you spawn the desired mob that you would like. However, to do so, the game must also be on either easy, normal, or hard. If it is on peaceful, no harmful enemies will spawn (which is no fun, right?). Also, in these different difficulties, mobs can also appear anywhere around the map. Harmful enemies such as skeletons, zombies, spiders, etc. can spawn in ANY area that is dark (ex. No torches are around an average forest at nighttime, thats why they spawn there. But if you light up your house, they will not spawn anywhere near your house). But no, you cannot control where the mobs specifically spawn, you can only really control where you DON'T want them to spawn. I hope this helped!!
 
Thats probably done in the config files or with modding. With 4 years of minecraft experience under my belt I think it is editable in configuration files.

For PC I believe you can edit files, but I dont think it would be very easy to mod or configure files on a PlayStation 3. I own Minecraft on all possible devices, and PC is the least complex version. Its just a little unlikely to do that on a PS3 :/

Looks like you can edit which mobs appear in which world on Ps3. Supertristan was asking if that was possible on PC

there most likely is a mod for that out of the +1,000,000 mods out there

Do any of you know any sites with mods and stuff, or maybe what to google. I tried and I never got anything close to what I wanted.
