i don't have any racing games for my 3DS but have Mario Kart on my Wii, don't know if this is worth it or not, is there anything really that special in this game? Other than the raccoon tails, is this any different that the Mario kart for the Wii? Should I pay an extra $30 for this? Anyone have any tips?

Yes; while there are plenty of objective arguments like 'the tracks are better,' gameplay-wise snaking has been lessened (for those who don't know what snaking is, it's continuously using the R-button to drift and get small speed boosts even on a straight road). In MK7, the extent of the speed boost drifting gets depends on how tight one's turn is, so no one can cheaply snake their way to victory. Which is great.

And MK7 has online functionality which the Wii doesn't anymore AFAIK, and it's portable. I say it's worth it. It's better if you can buy a used retail version for a lower price.

Yes, I think you should buy Mario Kart 7 for many reasons. The graphics are much better than the original Mario Kart DS and Mario kart Wii. New Items were put into Mario kart 7 to make it more awesome. This is also a good game if you like to play multiplayer with people around the world and to test your skills. Overall this game is amazing and I highly recommend getting the game

I have the same problem... I'm so often on the point of buying Mario Kart 7, but then I always think it won't be worth the money >.< I played it with a friend in a shop a few days ago and since that time i really want to have it. I will buy it soon, but I think I will get a preowned game, so I can at least save money :D
But remember also that it will be only worth it if your friends have a 3DS, too.

Yes! by all amen and get mario kart 7. This is a fabulous addition to the mario kart franchise as it was the first to introduce kart customization. It also allows you to drive on land air and sea I a crazy twisting and turning fight to the finish line. As was mentioned in a post above, snaking has been nearly eliminated, which makes the scene online a little more fair. (But there really are people who hack to get to 9000cc look it up). All in all, this game is a great addition to the portable racing genre, and is the best portable mario kart game to date.

You should definitely get Mario Kart 7. The difficulty of the Grand Prix is perfect, and once you master that, there's still the online community. Whether you're a casual player or a competitive one, Mario Kart 7 is perfect for both.

I think it is worth it. There are many different karts to choose with good characters to race as too. The tracks are well made wit loads of detail in them. But one thing that you should know is that holding the r button will make you drift and will make you go faster in races. This game is worrh tour money and you will not regret buying it

I have it and it is a good game. It never lags. It is easy to move around. The drifting goes faster and you do not have to always get mushrooms. My favorite part is pushing other racers off the road. I finished the whole game and it was easy because I already beat mario kart ds before. Bullet bill is fast in it.

I have only played it a couple of times with my friends in Download Play. I kind of like this game, since it has some nice features such as Gliding and the '7' item. The only thing that they screwed up was the drifting, the most important thing in any Mario Kart game. Other than that, it is an okay game.

I don't own the game either but I've been doing some races via download play and although because of that all I can use is shy guy , I want to buy the game so I can learn the tracks , the items and most importantly improve my drift , especially on that rainbow road stage

It's definitely worth it unless you have Mario Kart 8 in which then there wouldn't be any point to get MK7 :p The games is still very fun whether played online or just with friends locally and it also has it's own unique tracks and stuff like that :p You'll also find some people still play online a lot :p

This game is definitely worth it. It has the feel of Mario Kart Wii, which is why I love the game so much. That and the ability to play it on the go. And the online gameplay is fun as heck. The game should probably be $19.99 or $29.99. Definitely a good choice to get this game.

I think it's pretty good because it has new characters, race tracks, music soundtracks, and so much more than Mario kart wii. Also it's not $30 like other 3DS games. You can also play with friends locally even if they don't have the game. So I recommend this game if you also have friends who would to play with you, if you love to play online, or want to have so new/classical fun.

I would recommend you buying it however, it can get pretty boring after a while without internet since you can't choose the tracks and conditions you want to race on, only Grand Prix time trial or battle

Definitely. Even though Mario Kart 7 is pretty dated, it's gameplay still holds up.It's still fun to play with your friends, and here's the kicker, you only need ONE copy to play with your group of friends. The online works great, and the single player offers a good challenge. I totally recommend it.

You could but it for like 20 on ebay. And its surely worth it. It unlike the wii and other previous versions has multiple paths for each track. Everyone is no longer sticking to one road, now you can go in completely different directions for much of the race and gave different hazards making it difficult to get repetitive. There's also hang gliders that add to your options of different routes. Sometimes it's faster hang gliding, other times its not. You also have almost complete customization for each character, and are able to tweak them to your hearts content.

I think you should get Mario Kart 7. The game has awesome graphics and awesome tracks to play on. It is one of those games that every 3DS owner should have, and yes, its definitely worth the 30 dollars. The multiplager mode also allows you to play with friends and people all around the world. So, definitely get it.

I think it's worth it, but that's just because it fits my life. I am a traveler, which means a lot of time spent in cars and away from home, so I'm unable to play Mario Kart Wii or Wii U. It's an easy game to kill time with. So, in many ways, that makes it worth it to me. Of course, if you don't travel much or leave the house much, maybe sticking with what you have is good. You gotta think about your life and what you play more often. I use my 3ds a ton, so I'm more likely to pick up games for it than the WiiU.

No, not really. I hated Mario kart 7 so much. When I got Mario kart 8, Mario Kart 7 was never touched again. Mario kart 7 is simply to slow, even on 150 cc. The tracks are ok, with only a few good courses. The rest are generic and a bit boring in my opinion. Unless you can get this game under 20 dollars, it really is not worth it, unless of course, you do not own a wii u or are kinda new to Mario kart, but honestly, it is really boring.
