Mario Maker Is the mario maker ammibo worth it?

I plan on buying mario maker soon, so I wonder, is the ammibo worth it? What does it do exactly? Does it speed thing up, unlocking things, or is there bonus content in any way? Is mario maker ammibo compatible with the other wii u games as a major feature?

It think that the Mario Maker amiibo gives you a Mega Mushroom to add as a selectable item and it gives the enemies some features such as a mustache. Of course, this is a sort of DLC. I'm not sure if the Mario Maker amiibo is compatible with anything yet, besides the game that it was designed for that is.
