I originally wanted to play minecraft as soon as possible but I don't have money yet, is there a decent clone or a free(older)version of minecraft I can download?
(Also curious if Shift and Star Warfare are worth looking for?)

All free Minecraft clones are trash. To play any version of Minecraft, you need an account. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to recommend this or if it even still exists, but try Minecraft cracked. Also, if you can, try borrowing an account to play single player Minecraft from a relative or a friend. Convince them to trust you enough to play on their account. As for Shift and Star Warfare, I don't know much about them (ones a puzzle game and the other is an Alien shooter?) but if they interest you, go ahead and try.

There is one for 3DS that cost some money but it works just like minecraft. It's called cube creator 3D I've played the demo a few months ago and I thought it was cool for minecraft fans so I recommend you can try the demo on the Nintendo eshop before decided if you want to buy or you can just download homebrew on your 3DS which can also allow you to play a free clone of minecraft.

I want to play on 3DS but Nintendo "updates" will kill my 3DS :(,I'll look for the cracked Minecraft.Unless there's serious string attached to playing it...

It is only 20 dollars man! I am sure you should be able to get it, it really does not cost much. Cracked versions will simply give you viruses

I don't think they'll give viruses. All of my friends laughed at me when I told them I bought Minecraft so I guess cracked versions are mainstream...
But yeah, I agree, it's only 20$ (or 20€ in my case). That's not a lot.

edit I also had a look at Minetest when I used to spend time on my netbook, and it was ridiculous. But it seems they made progress so you can have a look at it.

Thanks! But I just saw the news today:Minecraft is coming to Wii U!!!! Me and my siblings are already making plans to buy it,I'll looked for minecraft cracked if they fail to bring money though.(2 of them spent ALL their money on games they don't play and pizza)

Well you still can have a look at Minetest since it's free :p
But yeah, no idea if it's that close to Minecraft or not.

I did, but a long time ago. And it was at least a game where you could break blocks and stuff, but since I don't even play Minecraft (no idea why I bought it :p), I couldn't really tell if there was a huge difference. And now that Minetest did some progress, it's probably closer to Minecraft soooo I don't know how close :p
