They break easily from what I’ve heard. One of mine is already drifting slightly and I feel like I barely got this Switch.

They're made incredibly INCREDIBLY cheaply. They're flimsy, made with the cheapest materials and are a bit too small/flat. Not a great design imo.

I do plan to get a pro controller at some point.
They are just so expensive. I’ve thought about getting a controller from a different company, but they don’t have as many features and either don’t have HD rumble or no rumble at all.
Plus they feel cheap.

My powerA controller is great. Good design, nice to use, works perfectly well. Doesn't have rumble or gyro but that's what makes it much cheaper.

Is it wireless? A lot of the PowerA controllers I see on sale are wired.

There's some that are wireless, some that are wired. Wireless pushes up the price a bit as well. I went with wired because I hate wireless myself :p

Honestly, I could probably deal with a wired controller. Especially if it means a big difference in price.

How long is the cord on it?

10ft, it's pretty long. Little bit too long for my set up though since I have 0 cable management (fully detatchable though so it's easy to manage)

Oh wow, that’s more than enough for my setup.

I’ll probably keep an eye out for a good sale then. I can give up rumble and gyroscope for a more sturdy controller option. As long as it feels good in the hands. I have a family member who owns a controller that feels like a lump of hard plastic. That’s definitely not something I would want to play with.

that depends on which joysticks you're talking about. third party joysticks are pretty good considering their mostly low price. not the best, but they do the job well. As for the Joy-Cons, I agree, they are a bit small, but that's the sacrifice that has to be done for the local multiplayer anytime anywhere with anyone feature :/.

But if you desperately need some good joy-cons with pro controller sized joysticks, me and my acquaintances (gotta sound professional lmao) recommend the HORI Split-Pad Pro. Previously only available in the black Daemon X Machina version, this comfortable controller now comes in many different colors! from plain black, red, blue, you name it! It's very comfortable, has biiig buttons and joysticks, a dpad (!) and even supports . The HORI Split Pad Pro is THE perfect controller for people with biiiig hands, or for people who are going on long hadheld gaming sessions (who does that? just dock it lol). It's even an officially licensed nintendo controller! Nintendo themselves gave this thing the seal of approval. If you don't have it, then what are you even waiting for? It's really good.

HOWEVER. The HORI Split Pad Pro isn't wireless, which is a shame cuz they feel so good, so if you wanna play with them, you have to use them on handheld mode and handheld mode only.

Which brings us to: The official Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. The joysticks on this one is seriously high quality. It is the most perfect controller I have ever held (well maybe the GameCube controller is, i don't really know) and is perfect for long docked gaming sessions (that's more like it) it feel super good on the hands, and the buttons are biiig. But most importantly, the joysticks are biiig. the only downside I have on this one is that the joysticks scratch the edges a little too often, and that it leaves this white powder at the shaft part of the joysticks. These can be easily wiped away with a wet wipe, but if this keeps going, your joysticks will eventually fall of in like what 2 decades or something.

See, all of these things are why this controller sounds appealing to me. I’ve only heard good things about the pro controller.

I just can’t get past the price point. I’ve never seen it dip below 55-60.

No. sadly, the HORI Split Pad Pro requires you to remove the Joy-Con controllers from the side of the Switch and attach the HORI Split Pad Pro in place. I recommend simply getting a Nintendo Switch :p. Just kidding! I recommend getting a grip case thing specifically made for the Nintendo Switch Lite instead to improve your handheld gaming experience. Maybe something like a Satisfye Nintendo Switch Lite Grip, or maybe the Oivo Nintendo Switch Lite Grip. Almost everyone I know who owns a Switch Lite owns the Satisfye Grip though. (by almost everyone, I mean like 4 people)

However if you're only looking specifically for joysticks, I would recommend just getting some thumbgrips I guess. There are a ton of good-feeling ones and cute ones online.

I never used joycon (Or my switch and handheld mode for that matter..) especially back at release because it flared up my carpal tunnel, dealing with how flat the console was and working 10 hours a day at amazon really did wonders on my hands... somehow I still got joycon drift on 3 pairs so yeah i'm not afraid to say they are very poor quality for the price you pay. however I find the switch pro controller to be best for casual games like Pokemon. basically for any Nintendo game
