Well this is sudden yet not unexpected at all.

Nintendo pretty much literally just announced Nintendo Labo VR for the switch within the last hour.

Full name is “Nintendo Labo: VR Kit”, and will have 2 versions. A Full kit with everything: software, goggles and five cardboard designs, and a Starter Kit which includes just the goggles and 1 design which is the "Blaster Rifle" which is the design in the first image above. Prices: Full - $80, Starter - $40.

Date it's due to come out in North America (unsure about other regions) is 12th of april

So... anyone gonna get this? I 100% wont be. The switch is pretty heavy, and from like google cardboard it's can go to prove that cardboard really isn't the greatest to hold heavy objects for vr type things. I will stress though that this doesn't give VR to everything, it is after all just a Labo set. However, it could open up oppotunities in the future I would presume depending on sales of this.

To be $40 to $80, I don't see why not! Then again... I do have PSVR... hehehe :n-omg:

I would honestly rather strap cardboard to my face then use PSVR again. I was really damn ill last I used that and it was just a horrible experience overall.

Well... I am pretty fine with PSVR, even though everyone else that plays it hates it, I don't get sick

For me, I don't get motion sick, and I wasn't nauseous after playing PSVR. I was just heavily disoriented and just felt incredibly ill overall. Had to sit down for like 30mins to an hour just to get my head straight again. It was the headset itself mixed with a game which had horrible movement and tracking that did it for me. And yet, with the vive I'm 100% fine and can rock along to beat saber very happily for ages.

Yeah... I can understand that...

Werent there rumors of this, like a patent being filed or something? Nice to know its actually a reality :)

Nintendo, you’ve gotta be kidding me. ._.

So people beg for a VR headset for Switch. You have the oppurtunity to make an absolute boatload of money from consumers who would pay top dollar to see Link or Mario in VR. You have all the resources, you have everything you could possibly need. An then, you choose to make a flimsy piece of cardboard, and claim it’s a VR headset. Just... wow. :redpanda:

This honeslty seems to be an extremely interesting approach to VR on Nintendo's part as they have realized that cheap cardboard based VR will not be appealing to discerning adults any time soon however children will be more than excited at a concept like this and I would expect that children from ages 7-12 will be the prime targets for this kit. On top of that I really like how they have done more than just make a cardboard holder and call it a day. The further attachments and such mean that its way more well made than just a Switch slapped into a cardboard holder.

However the 80$ price tag seems to be really steep for what is basically some cardboard and game demos. Honestly knocking 20$ of the price would make it a much much better value however this can be said for most Labo VR Kits.
