Hi!
I desperately need a new laptop (this one is dying; very slow and a physically done for as well) but I don't know anything about computers. I read a few guides but I'm still in the dark. I'd really appreciate some advice.

Performance
wise it should be able to play music on youtube while I have 20 other tabs open, 8 word documents, buffering a film and also playing a game. Or simply said; it needs to perform. It needs be fast too. It needs about 6 hours battery life. I can live with less, but 6 would be great. I want to keep a fair lot of pictures/document/music but atm I use about 50 GB for the bunch and that's absolutely enough. A touchscreen is optional, nice but not needed.
So:
  • speed (even with mid-heavy/heavy use)
  • battery power
  • 50 GB space

Physically, it needs to be
  • sturdy (Though I use a double sleeve, it still needs to survive my backpack)
  • light (I'll be walking around with it everyday all day and I'm not a dead-lift champion)
  • backpack sized (I want it to be portable, if I wanted something huge I wouldn't buy a laptop)

My budget is up to 1000 euro

At the moment I am considering a Lenovo Z50-70 20354
Screen: 15.6" screen(1920 x 1080)
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-4510U 2.0 GHz dual-core
Work Memory: 8 GB DDR3
Memory: 1TB HDD + 8GB CacheSSD
Graphic card: NVIDIA® GeForce® 820M - 2GB
More specifications (in Dutch, please use Google translate if needed): http://www.mycom.nl/laptops/laptops...e=AdwordsT4U&gclid=COKz06ON2cYCFQ3ItAodh0YCSA

This laptop that you are looking at is actually (judging by the specs) a fantastic gaming computer. It will be able to do 3x the amount of things you want. It is a fantastic laptop, and an ASTOUNDING price. An i7, NVIDIA, 8gb of Ram, just wow. If you can afford it, you wont regret it! I have a MacBook Pro with an i5 core processor, 4 gb of ram, and some weird Apple graphics card, and I am able to run minecraft at 130+ frames (which is not easy to do). So, with those specs that you have, you should be just fine. So like I said, if you can afford it, GET IT! I hope this helps!!

Well this choice of laptop seems perfect if u want a laptop to run fast when u play games, fast processing and most of all it's the decent size ur looking for. So my best advice is since it's 729 euro's which I assume is a great price considering u have 1000 euro's I say GO FOR IT! :D

(You can't trust me)(JK) reason why I said that is my father works for Lenovo and I can ask him later if it is a good one if u want but he gets laptops in from work or tablets and they are sturdy, have a lot of space(most of them)and great performance but you can trust me hope I helped :)

Yes, all info helps. :) I currently have a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge (an older model) which performed pretty well, but it wasn't sturdy at all. The plastic at the ports broke and the keyboard actually got replaced 5 times before breaking down again. (All still within the warranty and all not my fault so I got it replaced 5 times for free, but still it's a bit much ). And a friend of mine which has the same model ended up with half a dead screen. So I can't say they're all sturdy, but I guess I just got unlucky.

I have to ask my dad later because I know there are some that are less weight but less sturdy but we have sturdy ones and I think it is because of the weight and size difference in the models.

Yes I guessed as much. It would be really appreciated :)

Edit: I got the laptop! :D Thanks for all the advice. @Spinnerweb could you please close this thread?
