Laptop Recommendation

Hey guys, I'm planning on getting a new gaming laptop for Christmas. I want a pretty powerful one that costs less than $1000. So, what do you guys recommend?

I saw this in multiple top 10's and whatnot for gaming laptops, and the specs are pretty good.

Desktop PC is better and cheaper, you can upgrade the hardware but on a laptop you can't

I have an Asus Q550, at the moment and it costs around ~$1000 if I remember correctly. It can run high quality graphics at a decent framerate imo. I've also heard about the Lenovo y500 being a good and cheap gaming laptop.
