Sword Art Online is by far my favorite anime on cruchyroll. I lve the MMO kind of feel to it and not expecting what happens next. I'm only on like episode 17, so please no spoilers. I just want to know if anyone knows of any anime similar to the form that Sword Art Online takes. Or, if you are a fan of the anime and just want to recommend an anime, please don't hesitate to do so. Thanks in advance.

I prefer Log Horizon to SAO, while it has the same "stuck in MMO" premise, there's no death penalty so the players end up trying to maintain order by establishing a form of government and an economy and attempting to unravel the mysteries within the new world they've found themselves living in.

I recommend "Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon" it's sort of a comic relief anime but it is really good. Don't worry it's nothing bad and I recommend since it deals with gaming s little bit

I second the Log Horizon notion, they focus far more on the actual aspects of MMO culture rather than being more focused on action-sequences like in SAO. In my opinion, the characters in Log Horizon are also far more fleshed out and focused on rather than in SAO - where Kirito is dangerously close to self-insert character levels of ridiculousness. Granted, I did enjoy SAO for the anime it was, but if you're looking for something that focuses on the MMO aspect in more depth (think, cooldowns, politics, guilds and the like) then Log Horizon is a good suggestion.

Another anime I've watched that isn't really MMO but more virtual reality becoming reality is No Game, No Life. The premise is basically two gamers are stuck in this world where everything is settled through playing games. The action and complexity in each episode really raises the bar on the previous, so I'd suggest watching that if you have time.
