I need help deciding my main...I've tried many characters but I am having trouble deciding on who to use competitively and things of that nature. Which of these characters should I main and why? I thank you all in advance. I cannot wait to hear your advice. Zero Suit Samus is also a option, I forgot to put her. I prefer speedy characters or middle characters with good defense and range.

Honestly I can't give you any such advice as to who you should main until either I play you or watch you use those characters. But what I can tell you is that you can pick one as your main and the others as backups. From the list I use Toon Link and Greninja although I main Kirby. The other two are to counter anyone that uses heavy hitters like Ganondorf or anyone that lands easy combos like Falcon. You basically gotta consider who can out play your main and have a backup in case you're losing with against a certain character a lot. Hope tjis helps
 
You didn't really state what type of play style you prefer most but in my opinion , I'll go with either Lucario or Greninja or Robin . Lucario and Greninja are really fast and mobile characters and can do a lot of damage while doing so . Robin has a good set of moves he could use with his spells so depending on what you prefer , I'd suggest these ;)
 
Mains cant be choosen, they choose you. If you cant find one, you probaply dont feel them ( ii know that sounds like i'm and very old man ). But when i got smash 3ds, I saw captain falcon and i knew, that is my main. since then i never changed and i wont change.
 
I do prefer ZSS because she is the main character with the combos. I prefer that you main her than the others, although she is still top tier. I mean she has a powerful up b that her moves can combo into. She is a powerful character if used well.
 
Id prefer Captain Falcon. You said you love fast characters he is the character for you. He has great grab combos and is one of the easiest characters to master no doubt! And fox because he is fast as well
