Still annoyed...
Towns Folk
It has been announced and confirmed during an Apple conference, a mario runner using graphics from New Super Mario Bros will make its way to iOS this december.

It will be a paid app.

Looks like it's a timed exclusive for the iPhone, as it should be coming to Android devices not too long after release. Looks like a decent game, as someone who plays 2D & 3D Mario on consoles/handheld, I'll stick to those but this could be cool. It could get those phone players back into Mario, plus generate more revenue for Nintendo and could even display NX adverts... Also, it looks like Apple paid Nintendo a ton of cash to make it a timed exclusive, which is good.

I'm not salty over this, but it doesn't really excite me... it'll be annoying seeing people playing this and saying "I'm a big Mario fan!" like they do with Pokemon GO, but hey, it gave Nintendo's stock prices a boost today and it will provide them with more of a chance to market their big IPs and get them back into the memory of those filthy casuals!

Also, you can eat a burger whilst playing this. Thank you, Miyamoto-senpai.

Amazing, finally a mario game on mobile. But I don't really feel that good about it. I never owned an iPhone or any issue device, always stick to Android. It will probably not be that good for me when it comes out because I like to watch playthroughs of new games. Unless it comes out really soon after ios, I will probably have seen everything I need to see to not make it too exciting.
Plus one finger to move and jump? I feel like they're going to make mario keep moving and we'll only have to worry about jumps.
If you played any Rayman adventures for mobile you'll know how awkward it can be.
I'm just hoping that it doesn't cost a lot.

No love for Android ;~;

Did they reveal or hint how much it would cost?

Although some people might not like the idea of Nintendo games on smartphones/tablets (cough - @FrozengMeltengNuttengButteng - cough), I think it's a good move because it promotes Nintendo games to people who don't own Nintendo consoles and it can urge them to get one to get a better experience.

I was stalking this, you stalker :p

I have no issues with this whatsoever. It's not a main title, it just serves to bring in more people and cash in. Nothing more so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It doea look fun though. Not for me, but maybe other people.

Eeeeeeeeh, it could be seen as a main title. At least part of the main Mario team is helping develop it.

Not really. It's nothing new that Nintendo puts their main teams on casual games, they simply don't want a bad leap for Mario into mobile gaming.

As I said, it is a runner. ;)

I guess we would be seeing something like this eventually. It's cool that Mario is expanding to non-Nintendo devices like the iPhone. I wish that they could have come up with something more original than a runner, though. I guess if it brings in the cash, it works. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I probably won't be playing this, though. >.<

I heard about this on the radio, and they explained it really badly, making it sound like a Temple Run clone. Looking at the trailer, it looks pretty much like a regular Mario game, minus the ability to slow down and stop. I'm not spending 5$ on this, and we can likely predict what the story is- Peach is kiddnapped by Bowser.

This is the most solid advantage I've seen. And now I'm hungry.

Let's hope the graphics on the iPad are actually good and super widescreened like they did with Pokemon GO >.>
But it does look like a boat load of fun, and being able to compete with friends makes it better.

This seems as though it's going to be not too bad! I'll probably buy and try it because I've always wanted to see Nintendo "run" into the Mobile market. (Sorry.) As it's paid content and it's Nintendo I'll probably have somewhat high standards for this. Though it is a runner so it could feel done to death as many other FTP runners exist. It all depends on how they do it.

That moment that you have old school iPad or iPhone that App Store says that it isn't compatible with your device.

It looks like a pretty cool game, but I don't know if I would ever really be interested in getting it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the game is abysmal or anything, but I don't think I will ever get it because I just prefer playing Mario on something like a 3DS or on the soon to be released Nintendo Switch, etc. not really a Smartphone, that's all.

I love the idea on Nintendo branching out to smartphones, and this game looks like a great start to it. I will probably always own a Nintendo portable anyway, but it is not always practical in every situation. A smartphone somewhat solves this problem, with the drawback being that the games are usually much simpler, as is seen here.

The game is now available in the App Store. Has anyone else played it yet?

I played it on my phone. You can play three levels before you have to pay. I know they are trying to get money, but seriously. Three levels?!?! At least they let you collect all the black coins and stuff.

Fun fact: You can go backwards in the level by tapping the bubble in the top left corner. It will use one bubble and you can go as backwards as possible. Use these sparingly though as they double as your lives.
