It's been a while since Mario Kart 8 was released on the Wii U, but does anyone think Nintendo might release it on the 3DS? I'm almost certain they will do another Mario Kart game for 3DS, but I wonder if they have ever thought about porting Mario Kart 8 onto the 3DS. :)

i've beeen playing mario kart since the n64 one and it seems like they follow a one mario kart a system kinda thing, but its not impossible they'll release another on 3ds :)

I think the next Mario kart they do should be on 3ds because people who only afford 3ds should get another Mario kart because its been a while since Mario kart7 has been released

Wouldn't it be cool if they released a new Mario Kart game for Wii U and 3DS? And another thing I assume is if they DO release another Mario Kart 3DS game, it'll only support the New Nintendo 3DS models, and not the old ones. You know Nintendo do that stuff to make people buy the latest models. :cat:

Mario Kart, just like Smash Bros., is strictly one game per system. It has been like that ever since the start of the series. It's almost impossible for Nintendo to just break that unspoken rule they have and release another game in the series on a console that already has one.

So it's likely the next Mario Kart game will be on the Nintendo NX? And technically the New Nintendo 3DS is a different system...right?

New Nintendo 3DS is considered the same as the 3DS and, in all honesty, the amount of New 3DS users is around 10% of that of the regular one's. Also, while it is strictly "one game per console", it also is "every console gets a version of the game"!

Oh alright. Thanks for your opinion. ;)

Nah. I don't think that'll ever be possible :p I'd rather have Mario Kart 8 as exclusive for the Wii U. MK7 is quite good enough for the 3DS, though it might've really gotten old and outdated. If there was MK8 for the 3DS then it'll no longer make sense for MK7's existence and people would then want other games to be on the 3DS or vice versa.

Because of my inability to obtain a Wii U, I do wish I could see a lot of these awesome Wii U games on a portable gaming device. Mostly Splatoon. I'd love it if Nintendo had made some version of Mario Kart 8 for the New 3DS. But hey, Mario Kart 7 is kinda cool and it'll have to do.

I agree. Splatoon + 3DS = My life complete. :D

I feel like the Wii U needs this game more than the 3ds. For one thing, the 3ds already has it's own Mario Kart exclusive. The Wii U does not, and this is it's own Mario Kart exclusive. With these games such as Mario Maker, Super Smash Bros., and Splatoon, the Wii U will still live on until the time of the NX.

Nintendo 3DS isn't getting a new Mario Kart. SPLATOON ain't coming either. Mario Maker might but it'll probably be saved for more powerful hardware (aka next handheld)

New Nintendo 3DS doesn't really count as a new system. Just an upgrade, as with the DSi. DSi didn't get its own Mario Kart, so why would N3DS?
