Why is it that Mario is never the best character in any of his games? Even in Super Mario Bros for NES, the very first Goomba is better than him. o_O
 
Not really he is good it is that the player who controls him in the game is not that good to make him die in the game so you see its not his fault it is the player's fault for making him die but truly i you do know how to control him well his games are good and so is he plus he is one of the most popular characters that Nintendo created.
 
To me I feel that Mario is a great character in all of his games . I am not sure why you see that way but anywho I am not really a good player at Mario platformer games but I really like the game series . Mario is practically Nintendo's main mascot in all time periods and You will see him everytime and almost anywhere . I used to not like Mario too but now I understand most of his gameplay so now it is special to me ;)
 
I'm not saying Mario's terrible, I'm just saying he could be better
 
In sports games, or crossovers like Smash Brothers, him being the 'best' is a matter of opinion. Again, like @DarkLord said, it depends on the player. The character is never really an issue, unless it's in a newly released game (generally on PC) and a character is just really bad due to flaws in the game, but that rarely (if ever) happens in Nintendo games.
 
I can see and relate to this. Ok, so Mario a pretty old character for video games, and since everyone still likes Mario games, Nintendo just keeps making more Mario games. If in every single game you had to be Mario, then you would probably start getting tired of Mario games, so Nintendo adds more characters to the game. Now, because Mario is old and just a plain plumber, and the other characters are more interesting, Mario seems kinda boring and not very many people wanna be Mario anymore. That's why it seems like he isn't the main character anymore.
 
Mario is actually pretty good in the games. Mario still has some limitations though but that doesn't make him terrible. He is exactly suited for the platform kind of games.

If mario was better than he already is, mario games would become way too easy.
 
Well, it is the player that Controls every single one of Marios movements, so if you feel like he is bad, then it is the player that is bad. And if you mean in games like Super smash Brothers or Mario and Sonic Olympic games, he can`t be much better than everyone else. That would make him overpowered.
