As seen in the new Nintendo Direct, Bill Trinen was there to announce a new Mario Sports game for Nintendo 3DS due to release in Spring 2017, and it will be titled "Superstars". It’ll include soccer, baseball, tennis, golf, and horse racing as full games, with soccer even including full 11 vs 11 matches and the ability to play online with friends.

Thoughts?

Personally I'm not super excited about this. It just seems like another Mario Sports game. Though it did seem to be bigger and more fleshed out then previous games. (Well as much as you can tell from just a trailer.)

I've just added the trailer from the Gamexplain YouTube channel as for some reason, Nintendo haven't uploaded it to their channel (or didn't last time I checked).

To be honest, it looks like a better deal than getting a Mario sports game by itself (like the Tennis one) and I guess we're getting a new soccer game which will be quite cool as there's no FIFA on 3DS. Plus, full online multiplayer is gonna be pretty cool. It's nice to see Nintendo putting in the effort for this, I guess!

Now this does look pretty good :D

I certainly hope it has character roster variety as well.

The artstyle is nice, too :3

You're right. I does look a lot more in depth that other Mario sports games. I'm just think about Mario Sports Mix for the Wii. I played it with my friend and it was fun, but not good for single player against cpu's.

Funny thing: my bigger wonder is who is making the game, either Bandai Namco or Square-Enix, but Camelot Software is still a possibility.
There is nothing about the game (yet) on Nintendo's press site, but it is easy to see they are taking stuff from previous games.

I hope Square-Enix is doing it, just like the Wii game, so we can see Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy characters again! :D

Even though I've bought Mario Golf: World Tour back then, I'm still excited and might consider to get this game, not to mention that I can play soccer there as well!

Not going to lie, I'm a sucker for Mario sports games, and this one does look like it'll be good given the time and effort. I mean hey, it's been a while since I've waited for a third Mario baseball game, so why not? :D
I am hoping for a huge selection of characters included. I'm a bit confident that Square-Enix might just be giving a helping hand for this one, so we can have the Final Fantasy characters again in it. I mean, who doesn't want to see Black Mage playing golf or baseball? :p
But in the end, it's another one to add in my wishlist. :coffee:

I am not a sports person but regarding mario and his universe anything he does is wonderful and be sure it is loaded up with lots of fun! So being able to play 5 different sports in this sportsmix version for the 3ds is gonna be real good. I am really excited for the horse racing sport mini game, but I am sure that tennis and soccer are going to be good as well!

The tennis in this game seems a lot better than Ultra Smash as a whole lol. It's an interesting mix of sports this time around, too. Full fledged Soccer games and horse racing may just be what this game revolves around when it comes to the future online community. xP

So, I watched the new Nintendo Direct yesterday, and there was one game that really took my mind off: Mario Sports Super Stars. I was hyped to hear the five sports that would be in the game, but my hype blew off when I heard Golf and Jockey would be in the game. Like, seriously? Does anyone even like golf that much? You should do something simpler.
If I were to pick the sports, I'd pick Soccer, Tennis, Hockey, Football, and Basketball.
But overall, I think the game will come out well without basketball(Even though it's my favorite sport.:()

So, post what you think in the comments. I do not want to hear ANY criticism because I WILL NOT CARE WHATSOEVER.:meh:

I don't see the problem with adding Golf to it...? I mean, not everyone likes plataformers, not everyone likes FPS games, does that mean they should stop making them? I don't think so.

Wait... So you want people's opinions, as long as they're not different than yours? :p
Moving on though, I don't play those games, but I think it's fine that they're adding golf and jockey. Maybe even good since it strays away from the typical football, soccer, etc. and as far as I know they haven't done it before in these games. It's good for Nintendo to try new things :cat:

The game looks cool although I don't think I'm going to get it.

Great three Mario sports games that aren't on the 3DS already (maybe more but I don't know the Olympic one's real well but then again it sounds like they are putting more into them like Mario Sports Mix). I like that it has online play and I'm curious to see if it plays differently from the previous ones. I like the idea of combining the games together as it gives buyers more of a reason to get it over just one Mario Sports game. Also the second thing to look for is character representation.

I have always been a pretty big fan of the Mario Sports games, so this looks right up my alley. Except... horse racing? Seriously, is that like a really big thing in Japan? It seems just a tad bit obscure for the American scene. Besides this, it just looks like a regular Mario Sports game. But no dodgeball. DODGEBALL WAS MEH FAVORITE SPORT!!! XD
