Sakurai-san has used his first post of 2014 to show off a new trophy for the 3DS version of the game. Rather like with stages, some of these will be unique and specific to each platform's version of the game, with the first example for 3DS showing Saria from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

Are you excited that the 3DS and Wii, separate Super Smash Bros. titles ,has their exclusives trophies to be discovered?

Yup he sure did...I can't really say that I'm surprised about this, since Trophies are pretty much the way the characters are even there in the 1st place and I'd doubt that he'd drop the concept after 2 games. But hey it is something, something that I didn't really think needed to be confirmed...it is however very nice to see this.

Can't say I'm surprised given the whole theme they've been going for with console vs handheld differences between the two versions. Not necessarily excited, but I find it interesting to what lengths they're going to with this

I'm not necessarily bothered by Assist Trophies, but it's nice to see them trying to differentiate both versions from one another.

These aren't assist trophies, these are regular trophies (meaning, ones that you don't see much else other than the 3D model and a short description). We're yet to hear if they're doing the same thing with assist trophies

Ooh, then I do care about this, then. I love having more stuff to unlock.

yeah, definitely encourages people to buy both versions of the game so that they can unlock more stuff haha It was probably a smart move on Nintendo's part to do this because it allows them to add a lot more content with the trophies.

That would be great if we can trade the version exclusives trophies. I mean, transfer a 3DS trophy to the WiiU game, and so on.
Still a great feature and a smart move from Nintendo, though.
(Real interpretation: It will be time... for the big trophy hunting !)

I'd doubt that they'd allow trading of version exclusive trophies (this isn't pokemon). Too much work for a gimmick :p If they aren't going to do that for stages, trophies are simply out of the question

Seperate trophies, eh? Well I guess that at least gives the players something worth it for their purchase of the 2 games...since exclusives, exclusives and you know the stuff like that.

If you could trade stages, that would make it pointless of there being 3DS and Wii-U exclusive stages, Trophies are one thing because they don't effect the game really and they could probably make it a challenge mission of getting atleast a few 3DS trophies on the Wii U version and vice-versa

Well yeah, it'd be pointless for having exclusive stages but if they were to allow for cross-platform trophies, then people may question why stages aren't an option. Plus, there are graphical differences with 3DS probably allowing for 3D effect while Wii U having HD trophies

I think the many people who follow Sakurai's updates would know why there isn't an option to do the stages...also putting in that option would mean that they'd have to make the stages for the Wii U any way making it even more pointless.

well yeah, I know that. The point I'm trying to make is that I highly doubt they'd be willing to put in all that work for two different images for two different versions of the game

I like the idea. It gives more replay value if you eventually buy the other smash after owning one of them.

Game developers do actually go the extra mile for that type of thing, its not really a small task either since there could actually be something worth doing to the trophy models when remaking them for the different versions of the game.

But trophies are a gimmick in the game and don't really matter compared to a bunch of other stuff they're working on for the game. Given the whole separation of console and handheld themes they've been going for so far, I really don't think it'd be worth it to pursue this venture

Of course not, but I was only stating the possibilities of the situation...not what they would actually do. Its small speculation theory.

Pretty good idea. People that prefer home console, and home console games of course want to see some familiar faces as trophies. Also I like the originality of the games. Different stages, different trophies...It's not like pokemon ,where only different things are... well... pokemon.
