I'm thinking of inviting 3 of my friends over the weekend and wanted to know which of the two is better for a few hours of fun. I'm leaning more towards brawl because of the roster but which one is truly better?

Note: We are not planning on playing competitively and want it to be accessible.

I think Brawl is better only for roster and Smash Ball.
Melee is more competetive and more faster.

Is it also enjoyable? Or is melee more fun?

To me Brawl is more enjoyable with friends.
Melee is also a good choice are ya playing on 3 stocks? If yes Melee is better choice

What's a stock?

So like lives.
Also playing stocks is more comptetiv btw.
If its just for fun play Brawl! :)

Never tried Project M

Well, Melee is supposed to be for more tournaments, but Brawl is for casual bacause of the Wii's audience.

Mate, you want Project M. Fun, bigger roster, nice stages, its great. Its also extremely easy to download and play on your Wii. Dont know how/want to hack your Wii? No problem, they got a hackless version too mate. Want to me to walk you through?

I recommend Melee over brawl, It's more fast paced (has less characters but still not a bad roster ) Brawl, although is a bit slower, but has a bigger roster and more items (including the smash ball!!) Its really up to you and what your friends would like, to me melee is a lot more competitive

get melee. fun, has mewtwo, and is the only game for emulator. no emu for wii.

Melee. That is all. Seriously brawl wasn't to my liking. I mean brawl is ok but I love melee. Just pick mèlee. PICK MELEE

Melee is the better of the two games. Overall, if it's a newcomer it's going to be up to playstyle and preference. Brawl is slower paced and has a weird tripping mechanic, Melee is faster and easier to control.

There is one called Dolphin.

I thought over and decided to mod brawl to project m for more characters and the melee like feel.

I would recommend melee and brawl to newcomers. They are both fun games. They both have great characters and great levels. They are both great games. I would recommend both of them.
