Monster Hunter 4 3DS help?

So I stopped playing a few months ago (college and whatnot) and completely forgot most of the game. I remember using the insect glaive and enjoying it but does anyone have any tips or guidance I should keep in mind before jumping back into the game? I'm planning to stick with the glaive since I remember finding it pretty fun, but can't remember a single combo or special move so help with that too would be nice.

I would pay to experience monster hunter with no prior knowledge again.

I suggest you just start playing again; you might as well go on low level hunt and acquaint yourself with the timings and attacks or practice using a different weapon.
