I know this probably does not talk about ssb4 but I noticed how they put out mother 1 for wii U. However is this telling us that nintendo has heard our voices and is going to release mother 3. Which is by far a great game. This goes out to all the earthbound lovers and if you haven't please play it it's a beautiful game.:)

No. I think Nintendo just wants to make a little money and stop people from using emulators anymore. Sure there's a cult following and some odd humor in it as well as many layers of story and meaning but in the end it's still just a clever RPG with doses of illuminati. The Magicant stage was planned when Sakurai knew Earthbound Beginnings was planned to release I think.

All I knew about it was that Magicant for 3DS was planned as Earthbound Beginnings (Mother 1) was added to Wii U eshop. I'm still one to believe that a Mother 3 remake for 3DS could happen, but I'm pretty sure it's very unlikely. I felt that with Lucas coming back as DLC, I felt it was highly likely it could happen :/

Well honestly I was expecting a Mother 3 remake with an extended story to end the cliffhanger of a game because of Lucas' trophy description in Smash 4 which was the time I was speculating Lucas DLC.

It's just a theory, but I think what they're doing is gauging interest. Mother 1 was a very easy game to port: the translation already existed so it was just a matter of getting it to work on virtual console. That's all. I think, if it sells well, we might see Mother 3 in virtual console in the future as well. While Tomato did offer his translation, they obviously wouldn't take it: it'd need to be re-translated, which takes a lot more work than just putting the Earthbound NES prototype up onto VC.
So, as far as I figure, if Mother 1 - a game that can be emulated just as easily as Mother 3 can - has good sales and a lot of interest then maybe they'll set out to localize Mother 3. It's a lot more likely than when we were all hoping for a DS port back in the day. Digital distribution is a lot safer.
