I decided to give Smash another shot, since they got Ryu as a fighter. Street Fighter is my all time favorite fighting game of all times, and wanted to check him out in Smash Bros.

My big complaint in Smash, is I wish they would let us use the D-pad to move the fighters and not just make us use the analog stick.

I understand what you mean. but the controls are tring to manipulate the wii u controls for people to get used to the control, it is also it has similar controls to all the games to bring in new and old fans easy. there must be some reasoning behind how to controls are set up.

But if we use the d-pad for movement...... Then how do we taunt . The Wii U version uses controllers which has a C stick or right analog stick that helps you perform a smash attack with ease, if you were wondering why the d pad wasn't used for movement or anything like that. They tried to imitate the controls of the earlier smash games like GC controllers without the c stick or z button. Not the best setup but a lot of hardcore smash fans would go for the Wii U versions anyways.

Can you use the Wii-mote in the Wii U version of Smash ?

Yes and you can use it with the wiiremote!

There's a reason why you can't use the D-pad in Smash for 3DS. The controls are WAY easier with an analog stick and it can read tilts, dashing, and smashes easier than just a single button.

I think the Circle Pad offers better control, but honestly it wouldn't be bad if they gave us options, no matter how hard or easy it might be. More options are always good.

The Circle Pad is amazing except for the fact that it breaks off to easily due to the fact that Super Smash bros 4 requires a lot of button movement. If you jerk it to hard then the Circle Pad will have a chance of falling off (Stop laughing you immature people) and I agree with @Kzrlt, it offers better control, and i think Smash should lets us choose which controls we want :p

For me, I find the D-pad easier. I have been playing fighting games since the SNES, and use the D-pad when I can, I still use the D-pad for Super Street Fighter 4 on PS3.
