Towns Folk
This is a post about my works so far. I know there's only two, and one of them is already posted here somewhere on Nintenpedia, but I put in days of work to this, and I think I did a really great job with these marker drawings. And yes, I know it might seem surreal, but International Waddle Day is a real thing, made by a cult group of Bandana Waddle Dee followers I'm part of.
The first drawing depicts Bandana Waddle Dee, sitting in his usual spot near the Gem Tree (from Team Kirby Clash Deluxe for the Nintendo 3DS and Super Kirby Clash for the Nintendo Switch) eating cake. yum! I used the Gem Tree from Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, as a reference image, while occasionally peeking at the one from Super Kirby Clash to check. I drew Bandana Waddle Dee using a normal Waddle Dee image as reference, then looking briefly at some pictures of Bandana Waddle Dee to add the Bandana on his head. I think it's super cute!
The second drawing is the Octo Zombie head for the Dodo is the Word event here at Nintenpedia that I've been working on for the past few days. The octopus on top of his head is super hard to draw, because octopuses are super flexible, and end up looking like jelly or slime or something. Especially because the octopus is on top of a muscular-type zombie's head, which don't match typical head shapes. Muscular-type zombies like the Troglobite and Jurassic Bully (both from Plants vs Zombies 2) have this strange rectangular-like shaped head, with their jaws just sticking out, usually with at most three teeth.
Don't even get me started on the tentacles! Same with the octopus itself-- they look like jelly. the problem is, the octopus can move them around, meaning I have to draw 8 tentacles all the time (the finalized version I submitted has 4 octopuses, and is too cursed to post here). The octopuses are usually depicted as small creatures in Plants vs Zombies 2, meaning that I have to cram 8 tentacles into 1 small space. Luckily, there aren't many tentacles on the octopus on top of the head, (I assume they're behind the zombie) meaning I only have to draw the one detailed tentacle, but the figure of the tentacle is in this weird sideways position, all the while it's connected to the front and back part of the octopus. It's also swinging through the air. Why? Because I mostly based the drawing on some promotional art for Big Wave Beach part 2, in which he surfs.
The third drawing is the revised/finalized version of the octo zombie head. I erased everything from the first drawing and started from scratch, I think it turned out a lot better and more octopus-like than the first one! I also adjusted the head a bit to fit the size of the white board, as well as Popo's (or Nana's, they're basically the same outside of their parkas or something) proportions to really make a smooth, flowing amalgamation of the two beings (what is basically the instructions for Dodo is the Word-Activity #1) which means I had to put an Octo Zombie's head on top of Popo's body, and add his three other signature octopi in various colors. Unfortunately, Popo is short, and Octo Zombie is tall, so in the end, it looked like a tight and packed squeeze on Octo Popo, without that much room to him breath at all. I also noticably added 7 spots on his head (even though there should actually be 8 spots)
