Heyo everybody, Samster here, with another great topic! :D

Dunno if anyone here has seen it yet, but a few weeks back, Wreck it Ralph 2 hit theaters. And by the reviews, you’d think it was a great movie. It honestly wasn’t that bad, but there were quite a few problems with it.

-Focused waaaaay too much on Ralph and Vanellope’s relationship, rather than an actual plot
-They missed lots of references that could’ve been made
-There was no real threat/enemy (like the first movie with King Candy), although, they tried to make one, and trust me, it was just really weird .-.
-Lots of core features missing from the first, and core characters barely even featured
-Don’t know if anyone else noticed this, but Disney REALLY tried to push a feminist belief on everyone as well. I felt those vibes during a scene towards the end.
-Once again, Mario wasn’t in it. WHY THE FREAK.

Although, there were some good parts of the movie. Funny bits here and there.

Overall, I would give it a 6/10. Maybe a 7/10.

What about you guys? Have you seen the movie yet? If so, what are your thoughts on it? :eyes:

EDIT: +1 on my rating, cause Sonic was in it. :cool-pika:

flashback to the trailer with all the Disney princesses

Lol, After Disney got slated for all their original films not ageing well at all, Disney has gone all out feminist. Like sure, having some strong female leads instead of the stupidly dumb damsel in distresses getting "saved" by big strong men all the times was nice. Merida in Brave is my favourite Disney princess because of that fact (And because she's an awesome Scottish lass). Mulan still stands as one of my favourite films/characters of all time though, also for some of the same reasons, but also who can deny that soundtrack I mean come on.

Not heard about what's been in this film though in terms for that, but from the trailers alone it's shoved way too much into your face.

The film itself though has a decent enough premise to it. Builds off nicely from the first film, decent initial plot, it could have gone multiple ways. But I should have known that it was going to take the emoji movie route and try and fit in as many pop culture references, ads and big notable people as possible.

Like I said in the shoutbox earlier, the trailers paint the film out to be similar to the emoji movie. AKA, one huuuuuuge ad break you pay to watch.

I saw the movie! I really liked it, but even more so because it showed trailers for Kingdom Hearts III and Detective Pikachu.

As for the movie itself, I thought it was pretty funny, with some jokes and homage to internet culture.

I'm also not a fan of the whole feminist thing myself but whatever point they were trying to rub in your face with it loses it's message when you remember movies like Alladin, Little Mermaid and Sleeping Beauty. Yes Jasmine, we all remember just how useless Alladin was in saving you from Jafar. And Aurora! Oh yes, no one can forget how much you helped Prince Phillip fighting Maleficent! Oh, Ariel! Remember the time you got yourself out of trouble and impaled Ursula (my voice is dripping with sarcasm), oh what a show!

Well, I'm sure Disney was trying to push a Nice Character, Mean Actor trope on the princesses. So I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. :p

As for the ending, I thought it was refreshing that there was no "surprise villain" or anything this time around. It was a cliché that was used a lot in Disney flicks but it's a nice breath of fresh air to see that isn't the case, even if plot movement was kinda messy. It was a nice break and it's nice to see how a character vs. self conflict goes on in Disney movies. I mean, sure it wasn't anything memorable but at least it's a break.

I was a little sad that Felix and Calhoun didn't get as much screen time, but it's better compared to what they were originally planned for, at least.

Oh yeah, the Ralph Roll was great.

Overall, I also thought it was a pretty neat flick. As Sky said it's the Emoji Movie in writing, but it works, the internet culture references were done right so I actually found them funny and doesn't make me lose all hope in the film industry.

Oh yeah, Mario was already taken by the Minions for the Mario movie they're making. That's why he didn't show up. :(

...Sounds like you had a good time!
