Nintendo has always been innovated with what they make, and while most people say amiibos are rip off of Skylanders, I beg to differ.
However, I feel while Nintendo's installment of the Toys to Life category is very different, if they dont expand upon it, it may become quite boring.
So what am I saying exactly? Don't limit what these amiibos can do. Like Disney Infinty's Power Discs, they are cheap little add ons to help expand abilities. If it doesnt sound kinda familiar, its kinda like the equipment in Super Smash Bros.
And amiibos are also using NFC ports only. If you expand by having a USB port like Skylanders, you open the possiblitly of having amiibos storing data while playing all at once. So 4 of your amiibos fighting at once?
Brings me to my next point. Nintendo has done this in the past before, putting a different name on DLC so they dont have to call it that, because lets face it: when you realize you need to pay for more stuff, you arent exactly the happiest. So Nintendo shouldnt limit amiibos to specfic games and instead have a amiibo based game.
So remember how I said amiibos can become boring? Well that goes with anything really but the reason I focus on it is because most of the amiibos functions are unlocking stuff, and some of it isnt great either. We havent seen enough of the amiibo functions vary.
But Im gonna jump from that topic and compare Smash and Mario Party. They both have amiibos with data that saves and play with you. But if you havent noticed, the way these 2 games use amiibos is different for a reason: they dont have any kind of stoyline and work as a "arcade game"
Take Kirby and the rainbow curse. The amiibos unlock special abiltites that you can have Kirby use. After your done playing the main game.... thats kinda it. However Smash and Mario Party you can play over and over again, which is why there is more of a use in these games for amiibos.
So then, what should these amiibos be doing? Well, thats kinda a weird question and probably the wrong one. Maybe you should be asking what should the games be doing to adapt to amiibos? If it doesnt fit dont use it, but if there is a way, get the full use of the amiibo.
Finally, a new multi platform game is coming out that works between the 3DS and Wii U. Use for amiibos in there (I REALLY WANT THAT AMIIBO GAME)
Anyway these are my views. Agreee or disagree. Its a lot so I dont except you to read it all, but instead help my idea.
Thanks!
