Yuji Horii (Dragon Quest Series Creator) at the Niconico Super Conference 3 that Dragon Quest XI is in currently in development at Square Enix. When Horii announced the game:

"Dragon Quest X producer Yosuke Saito and chief planner Anzai Takashi look visibly surprised, like he wasn’t actually meant to make the announcement
."
I'm patiently waiting for Dragon Quest VII to be localized in North America/Europe first, but who knows, maybe this game will be directly released in North America/Europe/Japan at the same time (or close dates)
Overall this is great news, Dragon Quest games are amazing, and the 3DS could definitely use another one, let me know what you think, should they have ported Dragon Quest VII first, are you surprised by Yosuke Saito's expression when hearing this news?

Yeah, I read that yesterday.

Kinda disappointing they will prefer to do it for mobile.
At least for PSVita but they need to make those games for a console!

It sucks, I sure hope their "mobile outlook" would change on it, amazing games like these are definitely not suppose to be on mobile devices.

Still waiting for X to come over.

I've never fully played a Dragon Quest game before but X looks amazing,

I am a huge fan of the Dragon Quest series, and I definitely can not miss out on this one. The 3DS has great potential to become a handheld console with one of the best and most critically acclaimed games ever made. I mean, just look. Pokemon X/Y, Zelda: Link Between Worlds, Bravely Default, Fire Emblem: Awakening, SMT: Devil Survivor Overclocked, SMT IV and a lot more games that are great in number to mention.

Couldn't agree with you more! I HOPE we get Dragon Quest VII in the West, it looks fantastic, as for this new game that is in development, it's sad to see the the developers are thinking about putting this unto the mobile gaming market (which games like these don't fit in), if Dragon Quest VII comes to North America/Europe, it will sell, gamers are craving for JRPGs like these.
I'm kinda losing hope at this point.

Wait... Dragon Quest VII was for mobile but it's actually a remake of a game announced on 1996 for the Nintendo 64DD but got delayed and released on 2000 for PlayStation One, being one of the one of the highest selling games of that time?

I though it was a new game from zero just for mobiles...

SOLD!

Ha ha! This is my seventh time watching that trailer, it never gets old, this will be another best-seller, for sure, if it comes to North America/Europe.

Just look how amazing the gameplay is and how nicely they have managed to keep the polish of the classic Dragon Quest games we played
I will definitely get this game when it gets released in North America.

7 looks good but to me the best in the series was 8, that was a fantastic game and I hope they repeat that success with a title on PS3 and or PS4.

Dragon Quest 8  I still remember playing that game on weekends, and my PS2 overheating, that game was amazing.

Note: There is a lot of rumors swirling around that Dragon Quest 11 would be on the Nintendo Wii U!

Well, it looks like Dragon Quest will still on Nintendo consoles...
The PS-Only were 7, now remade for 3DS...

And I bet 8 will have the same destiny, remember the 3DS already have another PS2 title...

Oh, I think Dragon Quest fits better on the current Nintendo gaming devices, it would be odd to see on the PS4/PS3 (IMO) but I'd love to see how they would make it work.
