There have been whispers of new Nintendo consoles already being planned and in the making by the Nintendo company. Are these rumors true?

Yes, of course, Nintendo are always planning new consoles after their current one launches; it's natural that they look ahead to the future, they did the same with N64, GC and Wii. Right now, they've confirmed only that they've been working on new ideas for their next console and I believe AMD and Sharp could be helping them develop this new console, but Sharp's new screens is most likely geared towards their upcoming Quality of Life devices.

Anyways, a new Nintendo console is being planned but right now we have little details as to what it could be. Chances are, it will be able to play old Wii U games, as Nintendo want to retain the same infrastructure (and it's a great way to implement Wii U's underrated ideas and use it as a marketing advantage) but we'll most likely be waiting a few years until we get definitive details about the system.

Like yesdragon said, the New Nintendo console is already in Development. Im getting older, and the Wii U is the last Nintendo console im going (I think). My parents dont want me to play games that are recomended for 16 or 18 year olds, but the New console is probably going to get launched in 2018, and then i can play those games. BTW, Nintendo better come up With a good name for the console, because wiiu was a terrible name.

Maybe it has a connection with all of those "Nintendo Fusion" rumours that were posted around the Internet back in 2013...
In any case, let's see what they'll do, as long as they don't release it too soon, I'm fine. And if AMD plans to make a special CPU for it, I guess that it'll really have something different than what Sony and Microsoft might give us for the next gen (as if Nintendo doesn't already give us something different...)

I also hope it'll be more successful than the Wii U (who is a great console, though), maybe it'll help tiers to give another look at Nintendo.

If we're going to see anything on new Nintendo products, our best bet would be to wait until E3 to see what they present this year (or maybe even next year). From a marketing standpoint, that's always an ideal time for huge reveals.

They will most likely reveal their next console in at least 2 years time, so Wii U sales don't fall dramatically from where they are now.

As far as I know, Nintendo was looking for a console engineer some time ago and people from the already mentioned company said that they were working on another nintendo console. Then I read something that Mr. Myamoto said about the upcoming 2015 and what they will be doing in respect to wii u. To make a long story short, they are working on their next console at the same time they are developing wii u games.

The absolute earliest I would see a entirely new console would be 2016 but more likely it will be late 2017. This time I think there will only be one console, not two like the 3ds d wii u but only 1. Nintendo stated earlier that they wanted their next console to be a defining one that would sort of unite the handhelds and home consoles together so we might be seeing something like 1 controller that also acts as a handheld thing but better than the Wii U"s gamefaqs and some exclusive games to it. I think one company stated that they had made a game that would have been customer exclusively to the gamepad but could not release it after nintendo made the Wii u and gamepad as one.

They're going to combine their handhelds with their home consoles. I can smell it.

So basically it's going to be an Wii U where you can take the GamePad anywhere. But better.

I heard they are making a new thing called quality of life. It tracks your sleeping and fitness ect. Nintendo also partnered with shap. Sharp will be giving the some circle led screens. But they are probably also making the next wii u Consle

the thing thier trying to make is called nintendo fusion. its similar to the wiiu. but instead of a gamepaf its a 3ds type controler. so its pretty sweet looking.

I remember rumours of a console and a handheld ending with the name "Fusion", it could very well be the next-gen console that everyone is looking forward to. I think that the new console would feature capabilities of all the previous systems released by Nintendo, but only down that line. EG: Wii, Wi U, SNES, NES etc...

Now, did you know that Nintendo had been working on Majora's Mask 3D for the 3DS just right after Ocarina of Time 3D was released? I guess Nintendo is really good at keeping secrets and preventing leaks :)
