Reddid user Mew_The_Creator said that he has seen new controller designs from a facility he works at. Apparently they're new officially licensed GameCube controllers for the Nintendo Switch by PowerA.

Ya, since it has a USB port but these new controllers are made for The Switch, not gamecube
