At the Pokemon conference in Tokyo today, it was revealed that a new Pokemon game will release in the second half of 2019. The people who aren't too happy about Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee can still have hope in a proper NEW mainline Pokemon game coming to the Nintendo Switch :eyes2: It'll just be a longer wait.

@Alius laughed when I told him we'll get a new Pokemon game different from Pokemon GO Switch edition :lapras:
^ Just kidding..

So yeah, I'm hyped once more and so happy GO-style Pokemon games aren't the only Pokemon games coming to Switch.

Ok. Lemme make this clear:

just because it's GO based doesnt automatically make it "bad". It can still be a good game. Nonetheless, the hype should be real.

I mean, you have to picture it in a black and white atmosphere like how they did it on that one Family Guy episode :p

Just kidding ^^

I'm not saying it's bad.

> It's the full $60 price (which I'm not complaining a lot about but trying to stack up the points).
> 2019 Pokemon Switch game hype if you can stand the wait #HYPE.
> I don't think you'll be able to battle wild Pokemon .-. (but you can catch 'em, erm.. GO-style, ya know?).
> I'm hoping it's at least a full Pokemon game.
> I've been hearing it's based in Kanto, so would they limit us in what Pokemon will be available...?

Im not saying you think its bad. It's just that ppl have the tendencies to judge books by their covers. Not saying you specifically, but on random community chats and Youtube comments. smh. Im just hoping that, no matter the Pokemon limit or catching style, ppl give these games a chance, as they are for all audiences and should produce as a new discovery as well as some nostalgia for players.

I actually like how you can catch Pokemon with the joycons. It's just that I hope you can battle them, weaken them and then try to catch them instead of simply throwing a pokeball and hoping for the best.

I know a lot of people who thought it'd be bad too but after getting more news, they changed their views :eyes:

I know what you mean. This'll surely be the tip of the Bergmite. (see what i did there?)

This is the title I will get. I can easily wait another year for this game. I want it to be the best it can be so the more time spent on it should be good for the game. Hopefully they will bring showing pokemon on the world from Let's Go to this game. I actually really like that addition in Let's Go , but I would still want to find pokemon in random grass and such. I would also be cool with being able to throw pokeballs with the joycon or with motion, but only after you battled the wild pokemon. Not a huge fan of the catching style in Go or Let's Go since it seems very boring to me and reminds me of the safari zone which I always hated.

Let's Go is for a younger audience. Pokemon has grown up with it's audience in some ways, and when you become an adult, many adults tend to frown upon childish games (even though Pokemon is for children). Lets Go games are really for kids that can't really play normal pokemon games. I think its great. Its new, so not everyone is on board.

As for the core game, I will defiantly enjoy that and I am extremely excited about it.

This is very good news! I was worried that Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee would mean a bit of a longer wait for the next core-series games.
I'm still unsure if LGPE counts as core-series; they are a pretty big departure from the rest of the series and obviously aimed at a different audience, but they are also set in Kanto and seem to have a regular adventure mode.
Nonetheless, despite some features of LGPE that look nice it seems to be lacking in some important areas (the Pokémon GO connectivity, for example, is useless to me since I can't play Pokémon GO) and I think I'll forego this purchase in favour of the next generation. Only time will tell!

If I may, for the millionth time, The Pokemon Company International has confirmed that there are TWO core rpg games for Pokemon Switch:

Pokemon LGPE AND Pokemon 2019. I still don't understand why people deny the fact that Let's Go, despite it having Go Capture Mechanics, Go CP Values, and Go transfers, IS INDEED a main series Pokemon game. Reasons being:
1. TPCi (like i've said time and again) CONFIRMED that Let's Go is a main series title in their press conference.
2. Just because Go mechanics are present does NOT mean that its a spin-off title or the like
3. As mentioned before, the game STILL has gyms, trainer battles, is based in Kanto, and is based on a main series game; Pokemon Yellow.

I'm not hating the fact that there is a new Pokemon game coming out late 2019. I'm just upset that people are knocking down Let's Go for what it isn't. Let's Go is not just a Pokemon Go for the Switch console. I get it of you don't want to buy it. I don't care if you don't want the game.

All I am saying is that Let's Go IS a core rpg for Pokemon, just not the one EVERYONE wants.

Yeah, I totally agree with you. Just because there's new mechanics, that doesn't mean it's not a main series Pokémon game.

I'm holding out hope that the new Switch game will be a new region! :D

Thank you. FINALLY, someone sees the facts. A new region followed by a Gen 4 remake would totally be cool in that order. LGPE is rumored to give new Megas, so i cant wait to see how competitive LGPE can be :3

DEBATE TIME! I'm not sure if there should be another thread for this topic specifically but I think the question of whether or not "X" game is a spin-off or not deserves some attention here. Which games are considered spin-offs or mainseries because each generation has different formulas and mechanics? We call the GCN games spinoffs even though they have almost the same battle mechanics as FR/LG/R/S/E even though the games gave Pokémon more moves they couldn't learn before and they're still transferable. LGPE has different catching mechanics and requirements so you can face the Gym Leader but is that what Pokémon is all about? How about we consider spin-offs only games where you can transfer "0 to X" number of Pokmeon like the Ranger games or Pokémon Go? Anyone agree?

Well, I get your point. But, the fact of the matter is that Gamefreak themselves said that LGPE is a main series title, whether or not people want it to be. There is no denying that Pokemon LGPE has GO elements incorperated. But again, the point still stands that this is confirmed a mainline game.

Also, to answer the question of "what Pokemon is all about," I'd say its about two key things:
1. having an adventure around a new, uncharted land filled with people and Pokemon
2. Actually bonding with your Pokemon, regardless of their Ivs, Evs, or even if they are Shiny. I mean, its good to consider those options. But again, they're options.

I'm glad you ask this question, as it hits closer to home than you'd imagine. Pokemon to me is about getting my favorite monsters and bonding with them overtime in order to battle not just trainers, but any other hurdles and obstacles that come my way, whether it be another Trainer or going though Victory Road.

To further elaborate, I think we can all agree that, at some point, we felt the thrill of catching something new, training your Pokemon, feeding them, caring for them. We've all enjoyed the sweetest of victories and the stings of defeat. We've all been through tough times with our Pokemon, but the thing that makes Pokemon so special are the Pokemon themselves.

In the games, no matter what you choose, it is a Pokemon. and the fact of the matter is that we LOVE Pokemon, no matter what generation is more to our taste or whether or not the Pokemon is battle ready. All that matters is the journey and the Pokemon that stick by our sides. And along the way, you might meet other Trainers that are deeply caring and loving their Pokemon as much, if not more, than you love and care for your Pokemon. The experience matters more often than not. The people you meet, the Pokemon you catch and raise. Every experience draws you closer and closer to each other. And with that, I say;

That's the true meaning of Pokemon.
