New Smash Bros. 1.5 Update and Its Purpose

So there has been a 1.1.5 update for smash recently. This may not seem like anything much but it's s bit suspicious. Remember what Sakurai himself even said after the Bayonetta and Corrin release?
"There will be no more updates after this point". And out of no where, we receive a new update. What are your thoughts on the recent update

I knew we were gonna have an update! I called it!

Corrin had no grab glitch that I've heard of. It's literally just character balances to make it more even. Time to relearn the meta

He did, At the side of some stages, Corrin can grab, And nothing will get him out of the grab if corrin justndoes nothing.

bayonetta and kirby got stronger!

Here's a few things I noticed:

Cloud
  • Nerfed Up air
  • Nerfed Down air
  • Limit Break takes longer to charge
Corrin
  • Counter Surge Knockback reduced (it was bound to happen ;-; )
  • Walk and Run speed Reduced
Kirby
  • Knockback buffs on FSmash, DSmash, USmash, and Hammer
  • Hammer does more damage
Meta Knight
  • Up Air nerf

I think that probably meant no more new characters and other DLC-related stuff. (I could be wrong though. It's kinda hard to take things literally xP) Updates for character balancing and bug fixes are always bound to happen :p As for the update details from the post above, I'm really glad Cloud got nerfed; he needed it :hilarious:
 
The only thing I really cared about was the counter surge nerf :p other than that I'm ok with everything else

I'm pretty sure that we will never stop of getting new updates until

- The Wii U Wi-Fi closes like it did with Wii and DS (Most likely scenario)
- We get the perfect Super Smash Bros. Metagame (less likely)

Also, Mewtwo is as fast as Sheik!!!
And he is heavier too!!

I'm just glad that Sheik's needles have less range. :p

I don't see the reason that Sheik got nerfs. The game was fine in 1.1.4, to me at least. I was fine dealing with corrin's counter having way more knockback than it should have. I read most counters so that wasn't a problem to me. Glad bayonetta got nerfs though, that was needed.

  • Bugfix: Damage scales properly instead of being limited to the minimum 8% when slowed down.
Corrin's insane counter Knockback was because of a bug

People get confused what got MK nerfed, the UpAirs now connect a little bit easier (except for the final hit before the Up-B), but now is more of a risk-reward situation, if you are too close to the ledge an start the combo, you may die too

I'm thinking the smash people did it behind his back. I'm really glad the top tier got nerfed and the low tier got buffed. Kirby was really good (And spammy with up-air) and then he got buffed. I really love the smash buffs and I never use the hammer so I might use the hammer because of that buff

Otherwise, it was time for the DLCs to get nerfed. Seriously, there wasn't a day a school without me hearing "Smash became a P2W" or "Seriously, DLCs shouldn't have been made". While Corrin, Roy, Cloud and stuff were ok (Corrin being a bit annoying sometimes, but still defeat-able without too many difficulties), Bayonetta really deserved that nerf. Some of my friends found a few combos that can deal 30-50% damage without the other player being able to escape it. Though another thing I would have loved to see nerfed is the inescapable Neutral-A combo (keeps pulling you in the middle of the attack, making DI an non-existant word).

Now that we have this update, I feel like those who don't want to use DLCs can now have a chance against DLC users.
