We only knew 3 things:

1. Is a rigid tablet
2. It's cheaper
3. Don't have 3D

Well, there is a new surprise, it only have one screen.

What this mean?

1. The up screen is tactile, maybe, but will not work.
2. More battery time...

What you think about this?

I swear the picture I saw it had two screens.

The 2DS has two screens. More info is here: http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/gaming/2013/08/28/nintendo-2ds-impressions/2718421/Lol It wouldn't be 'DS' without Dual Screens. XD
FUN FACT: The 'DS' In the Nintendo handheld stands for Developer's system (because it has wagons of games), and it stands for Dual Screens. You have to keep the meaning of both, otherwise it wouldn't be a DS if it only had one screen.

Perhaps you were mistaken, as the 2DS won't close and such to fold to protect it's screens.

There is clearly two screens there, the articles have a faulty title. There's a top screen and there's a bottom touch-screen. I'm aware that it's one screen that's divided, but it's still two screens. =P

I suppose one is right and wrong when they say there is either one screen or two screens. Either way this looks tacky.

I can see what you guys mean when you say one screen, but for practical purposes it is still divided in two and measures are taken so the top screen is protected against the touchscreen so even if it is one screen it still works like a dual screen.

I guess they used one screen partly because they really were trying to optimize the resources in order to cut as much as possible of the price. Looks pretty resistant.

Does anyone else think that if this console works, we'll soon see a 2DS XL? :p

It's already a XL imo. xD
It has one large screen with 2 displays? I guess. Anyways, it's two screens :D

It's not one screen, 3DS games are designed for two screens and it's meant to play 3DS games. Wherever you got your information, it's faulty.

I was shocked when I heard a guy talking about a "Nintendo phone" in class.

It was the 2DS.

He's right in one aspect -- It has the "slate" factor of a smartphone, albeit with dual screens.

Well, technically the 2DS has one screen, but it show two...

The two affirmations can be true, one from the point of view of hardware and the other of design. :headphone:

It does have two screens. It just almost looks like one but you can see it has the regular 3DS screen sizes.

Other thing: It only has monoaural, the stereo functions is only with headphones...

Yes. I didn't even notice it had one speaker on it at first.

The Nintendo 2DS is great for the people that want to buy a 3DS but don't have the money.

I remember reading this one post on Facebook about the 3DS and I was reading every comment and one girl was fussing about the system and how it was stupid to have 3D. everyone was telling her to shut-up cuz she was making such a big deal about it. I told her all she had to do was leave the 3D switch alone and enjoy her DS games on them and play the 3DS games she wanted without the 3D. I was like HOW HARD IS THAT? But I hope she will be happy to see the 2DS now.
