i know most of you are not youtubers but im sure you have watched a video on youtube about Nintendo, so you might have heard Nintendo isn't friendly when you upload certain(every piece of) content they made.in 2013 they made 1000s of claims and copyright claims on many youtubers. obviously everyone got mad and Nintendo backed off. so now they have released a Nintendo creators program allowing revenue split to youtubers focused on nintendo videos.you can register a single video for 60% revenue split, and an entire channel for 70% revenue split.these terms as they stated can change arbitrarily, which means they can change anytime while your signed up. 60 or 70% percent revenue is not good, regular partner networks offer alot more if not 100%. the worst thing is these rules can change anytime and if you don't play by there rules you don't play at all.

what are your thoughts? i actually have thought of doing youtube but with this happening im holding back for now sadly

I read a few articles about it yesterday or the day before, and personally I'm disgusted with Nintendo. YouTube is free publicity.

As a consumer, I've purchased games because I've seen YouTubers playing them and thought they looked like fun. Hell, I wanted to get Sonic Boom after watching Game Grumps play it.

I understand that if you're playing a game made by Nintendo then it's their call on whether or not they receive ad revenue from it, and while I do think they should have the right to take it, they shouldn't.

most of my games i have has come from youtube publicity too. i would have never got into zelda if i hadnt seen someone else play it on youtube

Oh, well, then, I suppose I won't make a Youtube channel, then.
I can see why Nintendo would like to earn some money off the ad revenue most YouTubers (playing Nintendo games) get, but, I think they're pushing the concept a bit too far to my taste. After all, as @Nanamine pointed out, it's free publicity, and it might even make the potential customer want to buy the system and/or the game shown.

So, I'm a bit disappointed by Nintendo on this case. Should it be the other way around, with them providing tools/applications to help YouTubers make videos (Like an application on the Wii U/3DS that allows publishing videos like on the X1/PS4)?

i think if they provided tools to publish videos it would be a little more fair, especially since creators have to pay for the equipment, for FREE advertising

Exactly. That'd be fine if the 30% was applied only if you were to use their stuff, and not if you were to stream the game using any kind of tool/software.

Plus, I still don't get what kind of idea travelled their heads for this ridiculous idea. At least, it doesn't concern all of the games. (Apparently, SSB games were safe, and there are other exceptions too) I'm kinda grateful some games weren't made by Nintendo for this.

Edit: Here goes the whitelist for the NCP: https://r.ncp.nintendo.net/whitelist/
(So apparently, any game not in this can be streamed freely with no charge as I've read)

good to know

This is just a horrible move by nintendo. Youtube is a free public videosharing place and all these channels are actually giving nintendo more publicity and customers. Youtube should be the one paying the channels Instead of channels giving nintendo a part of their profit for all the publicity nintendo gets from the channels. Horrible and greedy move by nintendo.

the funny thing is if they had not said anything they would have got completely free advertising and went on in life, now there offfering some of there own revenue to us
