If you're using a North America Nintendo Account, there's a good chance that Nintendo is now collecting data through Google Analytics when you use the Nintendo Switch eShop. People have noticed an opt-out option when opening the Nintendo Online menu and clicking their membership details.

There's an opt-out option for those interested.

Only reasons you'd want to turn it off are:
  • if you have a serious issue with Google (like, if you avoid Google Search, Youtube, Chrome, etc).
  • if you don't live in the country your eShop is set to.
  • if you game share with people probably (idk if Nintendo is 100% OK with it).
How to:
  1. Press the Nintendo Switch Online icon.
  2. Tap on your profile's icon.
  3. Scroll down until you see the fine print: Google Analytics Preferences: Here.
  4. Tap "Here" and select Do Not Allow.
If you live in the country your eShop is set to, it's probably best to keep it enabled. The data might be shared with publishers and Nintendo might use it to improve visibility for games offered by small indie developers.

What do you guys think about Nintendo adding Google Analytics tracking to the Switch eShop?

Are you going to turn it OFF?

Does it matter if you don't use Switch Online, or do you still have to turn it off regardless?

Maybe I’m an idiot, but I don’t ever get too worked-up about these kinds of things. I’m not sure what they could do with knowing what games I’m looking at other than making the shop more relevant to me. Plus I have nothing to hide, really.

I don't live in the same country my eshop is set to. So is it better for me to turn it off?

This doesn't seem all that bad. It's just analytical software and Google is the middle man. I mean yes, many people will probably argue against Google and call them horrible plebs and they steal your data, but to be honest this is one of those situations where I couldn't/wont care about it more than anything else in life.

I think it's used on the eShop. But it shouldn't matter for you since you're in the US.

IMO, yea.

tbh, i dont really care, unless they are tracking my personal info. otherwise, they are making the shop more relevant to my likes, which could show me a game i hvnt seen before that i like. im fine with unless they track my personal stuff.

It's good for investing but if I'm not making money on it I'd like a little privacy.
