Not sure what to do in Link's Awakening. Help!

So I recently purchased Link's Awakening on the new 3DS, and I don't know what to do. The girl says the guy went into the forest. Does that mean I have to go to him?

What point are you at exactly? Did you get your shield and sword and stuff?

go to Forest (north of the road to the beach), find Tarin and a toadstool (you gotta enter a cave with bats and push a few boulders). Tarin was turned into a frog when he ate a toadstool (I think). Link's Awakening is my favorite of all the Legend of Zelda games. It's just a shame that it isn't as hyped as the other games, probably due to the fact that the ending was depressing and that it is "canon but not"

Just exactly as Derpydo said . I would really to be honest to say that this game really took me some time to get used to so if you got the time go explore for some bit to get to know the whole map so that it will be easier for you . I too was really confused when I first started the game but in little time , I managed to get things done in a more faster way because I knew the structures
