The Oculus Quest 2 trailers have been leaked recently, so here are a few things that you might want to know about the second edition of the Oculus Quest!

It's lighter, and has a new strap called a "soft touch strap", but really it's like really soft material that isn't rigid plastic. The controllers have improved ergonomics, the button placement is flatter, and there is a small indention in the controllers to put your thumb on when you aren't pressing a button. The grip button also sticks out a bit more as well, probably to make it easier to press.

The display has 50% more pixels than Quest "Almost 2K per eye." It also has a Qualcomm XR2 Platform, one of the newest VR/XR/AR mobile processors out there (compared to a Snapdragon 835 on the Quest 1,) as well as 6 GB of RAM (compared to 3 GB on the Quest 1.)

There is also a Quest 2 option with 256 GB of storage as well as 64 GB. Oculus Link is still a thing with the Oculus Quest 2, as well as the Mixed Reality application.

A few little things are that there are new graphics for Guardian setup (as shown in trailers), and the Quest 2 is backwards compatible with Quest 1 software.

Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

Virtual Reality Oasis just got their hands on this, and here is what they have to say on it
(By the way, yes you need a stinking Facebook Account)

(thanks to the mod who redacted the 128 GB model... lol)

The battery life is about the same, but what I have noticed is that the power cord is way smaller than before, which does suck, but if you have a Quest V1, the cord will work with Quest V2 (that's what I will call it now.) BTW, this now only uses a single LCD Switch Panel display, which can support up to 90 HZ (yay!) The resolution is 1832x1920 PER EYE! Also, the new display has a slightly higher FOV, and a reduced screen-door effect as well.

Here is a side by side comparison of the Quest V1 & Quest V2 (zoomed in.) The game is Vader Immortal.

According to VRO, the games still run at 72 HZ, but developers will soon have the ability to upgrade it to 90 HZ. The Home menu and Oculus Browser will have the first 90 HZ upgrades.

The IPD slider is now a manual 3 level slider, able to support most IPD levels (unlike Quest V1 exact IPD adjustment.)

The V2 Controllers apparently feel much better, have fixed the battery sliding effect, and what's more, is that they are just better ergonomically in your hands. They also have a resting space for your thumb (with a capacity sensor) & the controllers will last 4 times longer (according to Facebook.)

As far as the weight, it's only 10% lighter than the Quest V1, and VRO's opinion on the head strap is that he just doesn't like it, and it's not really comfortable. Oculus does offer a $50 "Elite Strap" that can replace your original one, as well as battery straps, and other great accessories. The Original Quest V1 facial interfaces DO NOT work on the Quest V2, but VR Cover is going to be an official producer of the Quest V2 facial interface, so it's not all bad.

There is now only ONE 3.5mm head jack for headphones, so no more dual headphones for the Quest V2. Logitech will also be an official partner as well, so that is an extra nice plus, making Quest V2 earphones, as well as a headphone headset.

Overall, this isn't a real necessity for Quest V1 users to upgrade to, however for anybody who is looking for a really nice entry-level headset, this is your perfect thing!

Here's the official trailer

And... what ever this is
