i have some problems with the more recent games that make me think i might prefer the older games.
My first issue and probably biggest one is the dlc. I don’t think that they had dlc before awakening, but I personally dislike it. I typically play a fire emblem game expecting to have a limit of how many characters, enemies to kill, and weapons to find. The dlc adds more enemies, more characters, and more weapons (sometimes without you having to get them in a level.) this annoys me, because it feels like you can look at it two ways, one way is that playing with dlc is a easier way to play. Having to pay for a easy mode doesn’t look good, and I personally dislike it because I prefer my fire emblem to be harder, so if i bought it and thought it was too easy I would not use the thing i paid for. (And if it’s nearly impossible to beat the highest difficulty without it id be pretty mad too.)
The other way to look at it is if it adds challenges that improve the game and characters and storyline that the game needs. This sucks because then i feel i need the dlc.
Really the biggest problem i have with the dlc is that i do not know whether the game was made for you to play with dlc, or without, and if its that the makers of the game expect you to buy the dlc, thats kinda uncool that its not meant to be played the way you buy it originally.
If it’s meant to be played without the dlc it would annoy me that it is a option.
