My dad’s reaction to the nes online service: “ooh, excite bike! I used to play mario bros, baseball, super mario bros, super mario bros 3... Tecmo bowl, cool!” Then he proceeded to throw a ton of hail marys because he’s had alot of tecmo bowl practice
What about you guys? Any stories of people rekindling thier passion for gaming?

Can't really say the same, my parents are immigrants with absolutely no idea on what mario even is. All they know about it is what me and my brother and I have played, like pokemon.

That's a really cool story you have though!

Hahaha nicd. Do your parents pronounce Pokemon as "Pokeymans"?

Surprisingly no, my parents saw my brother and I play it so much lol.
My dad doesn't even know anything else though, I doubt he knows what mario even is. My mom probably does though, because she works with kids (assistant teacher). Even then she has very little knowledge on it other than "mario jumps" and "pokemons fight".

I kinda wish my parents at least knew what video games were, I don't even play that often anymore and yet anytime I play one they think it's a complete waste of time. Then again, both of my parents are like 50, so I don't know what to expect.

"What's so fun about Mario? All he does is jump?" and "All you do is fight with those pokeymans!" are typical remarks lol

Again, I don’t, have any stories like the others here, but that’s a pretty neat story you got there, LuigiFTW! Also, to everyone else, I can’t see anyone not knowing what Mario is, lol

How we say Mario: Mar-ee-oh.
How parents that know nothing about Mario say Mario: Mair-ee-oh.

I'm fairly older so I was getting into the NES at the end of its life cycle but I never lost my passion for gaming. I'll probably still be playing when I'm 60.

No one should ever lose their passion for gaming. It is a passion no one ever leaves.

Agreed! There can never be an age limit on having fun.

I wouldn't say I'm "old" by any stretch, but your post makes me feel that way, since I still get plenty excited when I see/play a classic game for the the first time in years.
