What is your favorite old school Mario game?

Mine is Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES. To me, that was the best Mario game for that console. You could put on different animal suits to help you get through a level and you could stop at different toad houses to get special items to help you on your way. It was a lot of fun!

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe because it's to great Mario games in one! (but the buyer didn't know that because the second game had to be unlocked) It goes straight to the NES roots with many classic gaming moments and this one really tests your platformer mastering skills requiring you to beat a certain high score, find the hidden Yoshi egg, and get all the red coins in the level. Of course there is harder settings yet where all the enemies besides Bowser and Pirahna Plants are Buzzy Beetles (that cannot die by fireballs) and then you get all of your skills tested AGAIN in Super Mario Bros. For Super Players which is essentially Lost Levels and it's pretty tough (but not tough enough for the Western audience Nintendo! Now see whose having more fun on this game!)

I remember that. I remember unlocking it for the first time and being like, "What?!? I got to beat it again?" But then I found it a fun challenge trying to play it all over again and trying to beat get past all the Buzzy Beetles without dying.

Super Mario Bros. 3 for me as well. That was one hell of a challenging game! (the last worlds of course!) I liked the power-ups as well. I love flying and accessing secret areas. That P flying thing was cheating, pretty much. :p

Super Mario Bros. 3, probably. The game was pretty fun and I plan on getting it on the 3DS eShop soon.

Super Mario Bros. for me lol It was the first time I tasted a game and it was my first time tasting Nintendo lol SMB just filled me with good and bad memories so not including it in my 3DS' games library is a sin for me lol To be honest, I don't even know if I liked the game in the first place lol Maybe its just nostalgia that made me buy SMB or maybe its the sale :panda: lol

Mine is Super Mario Advance for the GBA. It was a great Mario game, but also very challenging. I clearly remember being stuck in a cave once with no idea on what to do or where to go. I liked that the game let you choose between Mario, Luigi, Peach, or Toad. I almost always went with Peach because she could user her dress to hover around. I never beat the game though.

we all had played a old Mario game and loved it. my favorite was super Mario world. it was my favorite because the music. the theme song would go lalalalalalalalalala. then continue on through the levels. aahhh the memorys

Super Mario Bros 3 was awesome. In my opinion it was the first Mario game that was good, and I played it a lot. The music is also so nostalgic. That really brings back some good memories...

Good old Mario64! I never played the original as I was too young but I have played the ds version which is essentially the same. I just loved the going into the painting aspect and all the secrets. Also I loved how many stars there were, not just a couple per level. I also remember that I did not find the sand stage, hidden as a wall until I found it trying to get the rabbit, that was a shock.

The original Super Mario Bros. is very good. I view it as the definitive NES game :D

It's actually a tie for me. Paper Mario remains one my favorite Mario games to date, but Super Mario 64 and the Mario Party series (before 8/9/10) are also way up there. I just remember being young and loving Paper Mario, even though I had no idea where to go next or what to do. It pretty much set up my love for turn based RPGs, even though it wasn't exactly an RPG, it was still pretty close. :cat:

My favorite old school Mario game was I guess the Mario 64 because it was a very fun and challenging game and I loved playing 3d games at that time so I was really happy for that . Haven't collected the stars as of yet but it was still a good game and I loved it and many people would also agree because this game really brought back good memories and I also loved the DS version . All so fun

Super Mario Bros 3 was my favorite. I loved how difficult it was, and I remember I had to start over because I clicked the wrong button at the start screen. I have it on my Wii U now , still love it, although I never play it :p

I would say i can't remember the name of the game but i do remember that it was for the gameboy and it was coloured and not black and white and you had to play through levels which where very hard sometimes ad they were different enemies in the past.

It's Super Mario All Stars for me :D The remakes were well done, the atmosphere for each game fitted perfectly, and the graphics wer beautiful for that time!
