I know some people aren't too familiar with the Paper Mario games, so I thought Id tell about them!
The Paper Mario games might not be for everyone, but I say everyone should at least try them!

So let me just start off by saying, I love the Paper Mario games!
They are a perfect example of how well Mario can do as an RPG, rather than the usual platformer.
Which of course there's nothing wrong with the platformers! They're how Mario began, and it's very unlikely that his platforming games will ever get old.

But the one thing Paper Mario does so well, is breathing life into the characters. There's plenty of personality in any Mario game, but Paper Mario really shines through with it's use of dialogue, charming stories, lovely music and fun areas. Now, Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door is my favorite Paper Mario game. It works much like a normal RPG, but with plenty of different things.
There's no "Level 1-1", rather there are area's and you sometimes have to backtrack.
Power up's are replaced by "badges" that you equip to Mario, so that he can have different abilities in battles, which are turn based.
Even the battle's are unique!
They take place on a theater stage, and depending on how well you do, more people in the audience will show up.

Now, the only other Paper mario game that is like this, is the original for N64. Which is also very nice. And I think is a must play if you're wanting to gain the full Paper Mario experience.

Now, my other favorite is Super Paper Mario for the Wii, it blends both RPG and sidescroller together! It has stages such as "level 1-1" and such, but theres also still individual worlds that you can come and go from, and find secrets and backtrack. And the story in it is amazing. I am not ashamed to admit, but I CRIED at the end, it's a beautifully crafted love story and while that might seem a bit weird for a Mario game, it works.
And c'mon, theres a scene with Bower and Princess Peach's wedding. How could this NOT be a good game xD

Now, the last one, Paper Mario: Sticker Star.
Sadly, I have not played all the way through it, It has kind of the same things that the one for Wii does. It's separate levels. The special thing in this one though, is you use stickers! And they really stretch the whole paper thing in this game, which is cool. You find stickers stuck to things and you've gotta pull them off!
Stickers also serve as your attacks in this game, now you might be wondering, "well, what if you lose all your stickers?" Well honestly, it's hard to. And that's part of the challenge!
Also in addition there's stores that sell them.

So, in conclusion, here;s the order I played them in.

Thousand Year Door
Super Paper Mario
Original
Sicker Star

However, I think you could play them in any order!

Well I usually like to start off a series from it's first game entry. I have never played a Paper Mario game, but the first one is in the eshop or Wiiware. I havw seen the Wii version of it at a Gamestop amd my one of my friends let me play Paper Mario Sticker Star once, and it was okay even though I didn't understand it very well.

Yeah the original for N64 definitely is a good place to start. And yeah, Sticker Star is pretty different from the others. I was a little skeptical of it at first, but It's a good game.
