Here's the thing: Nintendo loves to expand on stuff, be it a series of games or their consoles, and that's all fine and dandy. But their are certain games that are fine the way they are without needing major feature additions. Paper Mario 64 and Thousand Year Door were absolutely perfect for a Mario turn-based combat RPG sort of game, blending puzzles and a leveling system perfectly (in my opinion).
Then, Super Paper Mario Wii happened, and dang was it awful. It wasn't the Paper Mario I had grown up and known so well. Maybe it wasn't a bad game in general, but holding the Paper Mario tag made it a bad game for the series. So then, we see the revival of the classic system with Sticker Star, only 'improved' and made more complex (again in my opinion) with the stickers system.
Nintendo does this with their consoles too, seeing as how they can't just have a regular console; they feel like they need to keep making the 'next best thing', and that is primarily the reason they are behind in the console race. We need a sequel to the Gamecube imo.
Anyhow, Paper Mario will do just fine with a Wii U reboot, provided it doesn't try to add anything new and stays to the classic system. 4 games have been in the series, and it would seem foolish not to include it here. 64 > Gamecube > Wii > 3DS. It's the Wii U's time to shine!
