So since its 2016, and the NX is expected to be revealed this year, my question is will past controllers work for it? What I mean is that you could use Wii controllers on the Wii u. But will NX support Wii controllers or require all new ones completely?

There might be a chance that past controllers will work. Still, depending on what games the Nintendo NX is innovating on might determine that. Wii controllers seemed like a lot of sense for it to be able to work on the Wii U, but NX sounds like a completely different thing :p

It's probable. Everyone suspects it's going to heavily rely on some sort of tablet functionality. If rumors are true (pretty uncommon thing), then the Wii U gamepad could have a form of compatibility. Then again, Ninty did say the NX wasn't going to replace the Wii U or 3DS Family. There's no way of truly knowing atm. xD

Using the 3DS as a controller.

Most likely Pro Controller will be supported, kinda iffy about the Gamepad. Maybe the GameCube will also be supported, but it might be unlikely.

I agree.

I guess there is a chance Wii remotes + Nunchuks may work. Not the Gamepad though, because that would be weird. Pro controller has a good chance making the cut, seems like an all-round controller to be used.

The Gamepad could possibly work. Wait, what about the Wii Classic Controller?

I doubt it to be honest, maybe they'll re-release some old controllers to fit the NX format but I could see them allowing us to use the Gamepad and Pro Controller from the Wii U, maybe even the Wii remotes and nunchuks but that's a long shot imo, unless they are needed for Wii VC games.

Since it's going to be a whole new system chances are it uses very different controllers. Then again, Nintendo is well-known for their affinity for backward compatibility so if it is a homesystem (or a hybrid between a homesystem and a handheld) they might just keep the past controllers compatible. You never know.

Yep. Nintendo is unpredictable.
