Before I start off, I just want to make two things clear for you all. :artist:
  • This theory is not mine alone. While I figured out some of the bits, I've also researched the internet about this topic.
  • This thread WILL contain Spoilers of the Delta Episode and perhaps some other bits of ORAS. So be careful if you don't want the Plot told to you.
This may be a bit of a long read, but please stick around. :rotfl:
So here's a plausible theory for you all. Or rather than a theory, It's pretty much stated in the Delta episode.
The Pokemon universe has multiple parallel universes.
Let me start off by explaining what that is, since for some of you this might sound gibberish. Imagine there was another world, almost exactly like ours, but in another dimension. A parallel universe. The same world, on a different plane. Where there was another one of each and every one of us. Yet, the events taking place were slightly different. And perhaps due to this, the other versions of ourselves had different personalities.
I'm sure most of you have at least heard about this though, since DC and Marvel pull this stuff all the time. :hilarious:

So let's look back on Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby. To be more specific, the Delta Episode.
When you're at Mossdeep Space center with Steven to discuss the initial plan of how to Handle the Asteroid, the plan was first to use the "Link Cable." to create a hole in the fabric of spacetime and send the meteor elsewhere. To a different plane, per se. Now, this may sound sort of spontaneous and excessive, and not to mention impossible. But get this. People are fully aware of these dimensions. The 'Link Cable' designed by Devon Corp was made of the same warp dimension technology that they've been using for years.
You might be thinking; "Wait, what? o_O For years?"
But There are a lot of things in Pokemon that use Pocket dimensions and dimension warps.
Have you ever thought about how a Pokéball works? How can something so big fit into a tiny orb, right?
Well, Why do you think the series is called "Pocket Monsters." It's not just a convenient name.
Pokéballs actually use the same technology to create a small Pocket Dimension Where your Pokémon is stored.
And It's the same with The PC system, where Pokémon can be conveniently placed inside a Box or taken out.
And it's also the technology used by teams Rocket, Magma/Aqua and Galactic in their bases. Remember those warp steps that teleported you to another spot?
Same with Valerie's gym in Kalos.

Anyway, back to the Space center. When Zinnia (who barges in) hears of this plan, she becomes upset.

"Oh, I seeeeee... So this is what has come of human technology and of hope and blood and sweat and tears and... Well, the list gets kinda long and boring. But it contains everything, huh? I know all about it. About just what kinda energy you're using to fuel this rocket thing... The abominable technology humanity first thought up 3,000 years ago... So you're once again planning to claim that this is best for humanity, or best for the whole darn world... It's a snap of your fingers to repeat the sins of the past. Worse, if what I overheard is true... This time, you're about to commit an error more abominable than before!"
(At this point, Steven is adamant that this was the only way to be rid of the meteor.)
"Ahahahaha! What's up with that? You're a pretty simple guy for a former Pokémon League Champion. Then I guess I'll hang my hopes on what our current Champion will have to say. So how about it, Xaafy? What do you think? Do you have some better idea?"

At this point, I somewhat figured out why it was a bad idea, but I didn't completely know. I wasn't expecting her to turn the question at me, though. Still, I sided with Zinnia who then explained.

"Look, I'm not here to criticize the way you guys are looking at this. But I want to be sure you've thought this through well and good. You know, there are necessary sacrifices, and there are unnecessary sacrifices. What a disappointment! This is the best you could do with all your knowledge and technology? Instead of trying to make something outta nothing, you'd rather repeat the mistakes of the past, straight up? No, you're gonna add new mistakes on top—that really takes the cake. You guys need some imagination."

And that's pretty much how it goes. She's disappointed because our Idea might lead to the destruction of a parallel world. Which is the reason that it's a better way to get rid of the Meteor by summoning Rayquaza to seek Its help.
There's one thing that I was still confused about. What set of events led this Hoenn to be so different from the original one? In the Original Ruby and Sapphire, Mauville isn't the big City you see in ORAS. And the people were much less technologically advanced. And they had in fact, not discovered Mega Evolution.
It wasn't until a while ago that my brother explained some of this to me.
It all started with AZ. The great King of Kalos. The brother of Lysandre's ancestor. And original creator of the great weapon of destruction that lies beneath Geosenge. The death of his Floette caused him to work without rest to create a way to bring back his friend. In the process, creating a weapon that absorbed the life energy of Billions of Pokemon and people. He succeeded to revive his Floette, and end the war, but in the process the Pokemon who's life he absorbed? They turned to Stone.

Why is this important? Because here's another thing I said in the title that I'd try to explain, and was already a theory running around before ORAS was released. What are Megastones? Why are they specialised to give a Specific Pokemon a boost in energy that causes it to evolve further?
This is going to sounds messed up. But these Megastones might be pieces of stone left behind from Pokemon that Died when AZ used his weapon. Why the stones around Geosenge aren't as powerful may be because the Megastone is the one concentrated with Radiation or Life force of the deceased Pokemon.
Horrifying, I know.
Perhaps the reason the Key Stone (The stone on the Mega Ring) reacts with All Mega stones to unleash their power is because they are Possibly pieces from AZ's weapon itself? Or Stones that were able to somehow retain energy from the blast? o_O
So now we've determined two things.
  • The key event that differentiates the two Hoenns is AZ's weapon being fired.
  • The first five Generations of games happen in a parallel universe to XY and ORAS. (The sixth generation.)
Anyway, some of this is fact. Some of this is just conjecture. I'd love to hear any of your theories or just Feedback. ;)
Thanks for reading. Love you guys.

I remember watching an episode of Game Theory last night that says pretty much the same thing. Its a pretty smart way of both retconning the Pokemon universe and explaining how the remakes fit in to the whole Pokemon story.

Could you link me a video of that if you can?
And yeah. I guess it's a way to get rid of all the questions around why no one has used Megastones before.
And if they were the same world, it wouldn't make sense for the Megastones to be in ORAS but not the original Hoenn.
The delta episode was really cool.

I like this theory, it makes sense. Though the game makers probably didn't bother with the 6 gen is a parallel universe to gens before part. In a way all games have their own parallels as well. Why? Well there are many different champions yet each continues as if the players never existed. Each game, each file I should say, is a very similar to the rest parallel.

Also: we already knew about the multiple dimensions thanks to the whole Palkia & Dialga vs Girantina in the anti dimension stuff. That means that each game would have an antiparallel as well. A universe which is kind of the other half of the one we see. Which in turn would have infinite parallels. The antiparallel of one universe is at the same time the parallel of some other universe, meaning that in the end, in one way or another all universes are connected. :D (Don't even get me started on how many dimensions our universe has)
13! Yes that is a scientific theory but that's for another time. ;)

Jaja I didn´t read your post :banghead:

Oh, wow. This explains a lot.
The two things that just blow my mind;
The whole thing about the Link cable. So everytime we trade we're blowing a hole in our dimension to transport a Pokémon to another dimension where another player will receive it.
So does that mean all our battles take place between both Dimensions? o_O
And if every cartridge is is it's own dimension, does that mean there are a near infinite amount of dimensions with just really small differences? That's both amazing, and underwhelming at the same time in two different ways. :hilarious:

Now if only we could leap dimensions and transfer Pokemon from Gens 1 and 2 via the "Link Cable" to Gens 3-6. Perhaps that is in another dimension where the IV and EV mechanics are the same in all Generations and TMs are unlimited copies and Pokemon can hold items and daytime and nighttime exists. (Lets not forget what determines and attack to be physical or special wouldn't depend on the type of the Pokemon) But then again the different gameplay mechanics are what makes each generation special (that moment you face Lance in Gen 1 and he only uses Agility on your Hitmonlee).

Wait... Doesn't he use agility on himself? The wording confused me for a bit there, like, "Is he raising your speed?" xD

Well the game like to use super effective moves so you could pretend this happened in another dimension. Minor mistake. xP
