pokemon y monodark ideas

im considering making a monodark run of y sometime in the future, any ideas on a team?

Have your starter be froakie, it'll be a greninja at it's final evolution, which is a water/dark type. In the early routes you'll probably only get Poochyena as a dark type, which is a small problem since the first gym is bug type. Better dark types are found in the latter parts of the game.

As said above, start with froakie (greninja), then along the way catch some of these: pancham (pangoro, can be HM slave) and/or scraggy (Scrafty), absol (for mega), inkay (contrary + superpower / hammer arm), pawniard (bisharp) and/or corphish (crawdaunt, water HM slave), skorupi (drapion), carvanha (sharpedo, water HM slave), stunky (skuntank), sandile (crookodile), pupitar (tyranitar) and finally zweilous (hydreigon). The above are all the non safari-exclusive dark types on Y. HOWEVER, other than Hydreigon, nothing else can use the HM Fly, so unless you don't plan on using it, you will need a flying type too (my suggestion is fletchling).

If he's playing Y then he could just use yveltal as a flyer right?

Even if he uses Yveltal, you can only get it late in the game, plus there is always the possibility of him not wanting to use Legendaries, but sure, that's a good choice.

well, i was gonna allow legendaries, cause thats what i planned on using for a flyer.
i think i planned out my team already. this is my team as of currently
1.greninja (waterfall)
2.absol (cut and mega)
3.yveltal (as mentioned before, flyer)
4.drapion/skuntank (dark poison is a nice combo, but still deciding on either one; leaning towards drapion)
5.tyranitar (surf & 2nd mega)
6.any choice (umbreon maybe? darkrai possibly)

tell me if i should change anything

Use Surf on greninja and waterfall on tyranitar (more damage)
Definitely go with Drapion over Skuntank, they have about the same speed, but drapion has really high defences and a wide movepool.
As for the 6th slot, i suggest crookodile or pangoro / scrafty, mainly because of crookodile's typing which allows it to 1-Hit KO almost every pokemon in wikstorm's & malva's teams with an earthquake (the only 2 that will live are Scissor,Talonflame and Probopass because of sturdy). Then it can rock slide and outrage all of drasna's and half of siebold's teams. Pangoro and Scrafty are pretty strong too, but only in certain situations.
