So I'm gonna start a thread of reviewing movies I've seen recently. Even if it's not recent, I'm gonna watch it. NOTE: movies I watch are not always decided ahead of time. If I watch a recent movie and don't really feel anything special from it, I won't review it. These reviews will be text-based. I will not use spoilers directly but be warned that some points might give something great away.
So let's begin with:
Pixar. A group set up in fame for coming up with new and fresh ideas, and this is one of their most original plots yet. The characters revolve around one point of personality (most of the time) and it's fine here because they're embodiments of that personality trait.
However, the female characters (minus Disgust) had voice actresses that overblew their roles. But there were three characters that were acted PERFECTLY. Fear's voice actor was amazing at his role and Fear itself (I'm funny I promise) was so NICE to watch flail around screaming.
But the best role was Anger. LEWIS BLACK AS THE EMBODIMENT OF ANGER. YES.
For some reason, I found myself relating to Anger the most. I know he's not meant to be relatable, but oh well.
The last one is BingBong. I won't go into details on him because the scene is really good and I want you to see for yourself, but his design is great. His voice actor sold the role very well, although he overplayed a bit.
The real world segments were... Alright. It was your normal angsty child that moved story. What I WAS REALLY LIKING WAS THE DIFFERENT WAYS THE EMOTIONS WERE IN OTHER PEOPLE. That should have been a bigger role. But, oh well.
The animation in the real world was... As the world would be in real life. Now, the emotions aren't based to physics, and Fear's slapstick and overblown movements were a joy to watch. The fuzz on the characters was also a nice touch and made me appreciate Pixar's attention to detail.
Overall, this was a great movie but Incredibles is a better Pixar movie any day.
