A new game published by Nintendo is currently in a "WIP" state and there's already a demo live on the Nintendo Switch eShop. I don't think "Project Triangle Strategy" is the game's official name, but I'm hoping it's not.

From what I've played so far:

My likes:
  • From the start, I wasn't expecting "that" event. I wouldn't spoil it for anyone, but it got me interested.
  • Full English voice acting is a nice addition.
  • Love the music.
  • Decent mechanics so far but nothing really new that aren't in other games (yet)
  • You can see the character attacking the enemy on the battlefield.
  • Nice cutscenes (so far).
My dislikes:
  • The art style. I don't like the blurry shadow effect on the characters.
  • I know there's a marker of the current character's turn, but I can't see it too clearly. Maybe I'll get used to it as I play more stages. The turn-based system also took me a while to get accustomed to.
Check out the announcement trailer below:

About the game:
Three nations battle for control of the dwindling resources of salt and iron
Command a group of warriors as Serenoa, heir of House Wolffort, in a tangled plot where your decisions make all the difference. Key choices you make will bolster one of three convictions—Utility, Morality, Liberty—which together make up Serenoa’s world view and influence how the story will unfold. When faced with truly momentous decisions, multiple characters will weigh in by casting their votes on the Scales of Conviction. In these moments, the allies and decisions you make can determine the fate of whole nations and the continent of Norzelia itself.
The demo can be downloaded for free from the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Try it out and let me know what you think :eyes:

This looks really fun tbh. It's like octopath except it has choices which change the story. My friend thought this was a FE:3 houses ripoff. I have to explain to him later ;~;. I love the art style and the blur effect. It makes it look really unique. Voice acting is always a plus. But it looks like a turn based rpg which i'm not really a fan of. But if everything else about the game is amazing, then I won't care too much. I'll definitely check out the demo.

This game looks interesting, it's definitely something I'll try out. I do love the art style, it's pretty unique to me. I've seen a few games with this style, but I love how they did it. I am not a huge fan of turn based RPGs, but i can handle some. I played few Dragon Quests and loved them, I didn't really like Chrono Trigger too much tho. I have to replay that sometime later. I do also like the fact that your choices change the story, seems like it could make the story a bit more interesting. I will try out the free demo sometime, tho I wonder how much this game will be? Somewhere between $20-$30 I bet.

There's something really neat about a system that your characters decide what side to be on like Nobunga's Ambition but on a grander scale. I know there has been some elevation effects in other game of this genre but the way attacks are laid out feels like a step up from the typical chess squares although it may get confusing if you can't tell where the enemy attacks as well. This project name might bring all the gameplay together in a nutshell.

Is this from the demo? don't spoil it, but I watched the direct so It must be a plot point from the demo. I didn't pick up much story info from the direct but I was interested in the gameplay.

Personally I love the art style of this and octopath. I'm not sure how the shadow effects work because I didn't play the demo but personally I love it. Honestly this is one of my highest, most anticipated games.

My hunch says it is $60. This is in the same art style as Octopath Traveler (so although I'm not 100% sure, I assume it's the same team, pretty sure it's Square Enix, published by Nintendo), and Octopath was $60. Don't be fooled though, Octopath had a huge world, and 8 long stories following it's 8 protagonists. Now the working title of "Triangle Strategy" seems like this won't have 8 storylines/protagonists, but I bet it'll be just as in depth as Octopath.

I didn't get the chance to watch the Direct so I'm not sure if this part was in it, but I only played some of the demo.

Do you plan to try the demo first?

I was thinking about it but no I'm not going to. I'm already sold on it, so it'll kill me to start the demo and not being able to play more until whenever it launches.

this game does look like fun.
those game where it has branching ending depenting of a specific combination of choices during the start and middle of the game.
this does have potential to be a cult classic.
i could be wrong but that i what i feel even though i do not know at this timeframe for sure if i would buy the game.
as the name is not finalized and i am not sure if this type of game is for me.
the first time i heard of this was on the direct last month.
this game does have a fire emblem feel with the story aspect , not so the game play.
this game gives the feeling of makers experimenting with diffrent game approaches.
akin to days of playstation 1.
this game give me a demo disc feeling , back in early 2000s when demo disks were a thing and were useful in that monster game with the eyeball monster with one foot “monster rancher” on playstation wherr player can put in disc into playstation to make monsters.
it is nice to see games where demo enable user feedback to halp improve the game. lookin forward to watching playthroughs of this game after it comes out
