PS4 will start to support cross-play!

From what I see on some news, several PS4 owners were disappointed when they found out they couldn't link their Fortnite accounts on the Switch, and it sparks many talks that wishes cross-play to happen in PS4. And it seems that the wait will be over soon.

In fact, Fortnite will be the first to have an open beta that allows PS4 owners to cross-play with Android, iOS, PC, Mac, Xbox One and Switch, and this might be Sony's first step to change their policies on it. So what's your thoughts on this?

Get good sony. One step for sony, one giant leap for gamer kind.
 
There are several PS4 games with cross-play already, Final Fantasy XIV for example has both PS4 and PC players together on the same servers.

That being said, Sony's excuses for keeping the PS4 edition of Fortnite isolated were terrible, and I'm glad they're changing that. I hope they'll allow cross-play for more games in the future (Monster Hunter World could really use it).

Well you can already play fortnite with pc if you’re on ps4 same for rocket league I think

Sony has typically always allowed PC and PS4 crossplay. What we're talking about here is PS4 to Xbox One or Nintendo Switch crossplay. They haven't let a single game play with those consoles because they think it'll drive more playstation sales. Nintendo and Xbox have generally allowed crossplay with them, as well as PC, while Sony doesn't want to play with them. This is the first time this generation we've seen Sony allow crossplay between consoles, with this open fortnite beta. Hopefully this does great as if it does, they'll continue this trend with other games they have.

If sony intentionally gets people to hack thier system through the fortnite beta and cancels thier efforts for cross play, remember i called it.
 
It sure takes them long enough. Better late than never though.
