Question about 3ds pedia experience points

What is the purpose of experience points? When you get to level 4, what happens. Why would someone want to get experience. Do you get something? I don't know the answer to any of these questions. If you know the answer, please tell me.

Nothing really happens when you reach a certain level. There may be times you get something such as a coupon code for example to use at the Pedia Emporium or a similar event to my Smash DLC giveaway (only high level members could participate).
