Question regarding Gym challenges:

Do we have to play by Smogon rules when we challenge gyms? I understand if those are the rules of the gym, but is there no doubles option? I don't mean to offend anyone, but I only play by legal Pokemon Company rules, like 4v4 Doubles, and 3v3 Singles no Legends, since I don't believe that Smogon is legit and I've never waned tp try it. So does that mean I have to play whatever Smogon rules are followed, or are we allowed to negotiate with the gym leaders?

I formally apologize in advance if I'm asking rude/dumb/pointless questions.

You have to play smogon rules, however there are 2 gyms which offer doubles: the labrinth gym and starlight illusions gym
