The reason why it doesn't work for zelda 2 is because it isn't self-imposed there, you are forced to do it. By this I mean having limited lives. You may decide to do some things like gaining lives when you beat a boss or losing multiple when you lose to one. If you lose all, game over.

Its a OK idea a lot of people are doing the YOLO version of playing games these days. It would really be good if you clarified what your challenge idea was I understood a bit from what you said but it would be a lot easier if your post started out with saying the idea.

Many people do this. However, you are a saint for doing hyrule Warriors hardest mode without ever picking up a heart container
