You should always drift.

Use powerups before its too late!

Watch where you're going, you might hit a wall!

Always take shortcuts when you can.

(Might Work) Ram people into offroad areas where you slow down such as offroad and in water.

If this helped then please like this post!

Don't mean to be a jerk or anything, but everything you just listed is pretty well-known, dude. But either way, you tried, but don't be too much of a try-hard.

Save powerups in MK7/8. Leave the item behind your kart at all times by holding the use item button. Drive on the inside of corners if possible. Stop if you see someone with a Blue Shell on the bottom screen and you're first unless you are really far ahead so keep an eye out. Place bananas in tight spots and on ramps to get an easier chance to hit someone. Get as many drift boosts as possible and generally your faster than when you're not drifting. Use a kart your used to but if you can't handle tight turns get a kart with better handling and get used to it as it gives you an advantage. Use heavier karts if you get knocked around a lot. Try to avoid acceleration boosting gliders because they slow you down in the air.

EXACTLY! These are some good strategies! @Artisan, I hereby make you the new owner of this thread! But seriously, those really are great tips you listed there. But, kudos to Nathan for having a good setup and organization with the tips list.

Watch where I'm going ? I'm always looking at my screen so typically I'll know not to hit a wall . Those are some basic tips but I have a few . Don't use up the 3 red or green shell powerup all at once , they can be used one by one better or for defence or such :p and if you know you're gonna get blasted by a blue shell , you can reverse a bit so that others may get hit as well :sneaky:

If you're playing 200CC, you might want to brake a bit before a sharp turn, it's essential especially on Rainbow Road. Also if some nearby you gets the 8 (MK8) or 7 (MK7) then ramming into them will get you one of their powerups, so try to do so before they use it. Another good thing to do is always keep an item held behind you so that in case someone wants to try and get you with the red shell you have a line of defense working for you. That's about all I can provide on tips for Mario Kart. Hope it helps

If you're playing 200CC, you might want to brake a bit before a sharp turn, it's essential especially on Rainbow Road.

This technique is a life saver, especially on Neo Bowser City. However, there is a certain turn on Royal Raceway that is so sharp, a player is forced to spark a full mini turbo (if they want to stay on the road). In 200cc, breaking after the turn is very difficult without going into the grass, so letting go of the acceleration button entirely slightly after the turbo completes (resulting in a boost) is the best way to avoid driving off-road. This method might help a lot more for vehicle combos that are nothing but speed. :p

Use all of the shortcuts and save your items until you get closer to 1st place. Also create diversions for other players, make them drive into fake shortcuts and create reverse parades*

* A reverse parade is when you turn around and drive into the person behind you and then they go backwards and so on until everyone is blocked up, then you boost as fast as you can and glitch the game to get first place.

I always try to save any power up that I get, even when in first place. Since all you get in first place is bananas or green shells, they provide great defense for any incoming projectiles such as Red Shells or Green Shells. I also try to take shortcuts when I really need to if I am far behind.

For Mario Kart 8, Feather weights having higher acceleration, lower speed, and lower weight, and Super Heavy weights having lower acceleration, higher speed, and higher weight. You are gonna wanna play around with different character and kart combos until you find something that just feels right. For jumping: Hit jump just as you leave any ramp to do a trick and get a small speed boost. This also works on small environment hazards, so make sure it becomes second nature to hop at every opportunity.
