Just wondering, does anyone here ever use the rear view mode while playing Mario Kart. I tend to do it a lot when I'm in first so that if someone is starting to get too close for comfort then I could just get right in front of them then hit them with a banana or green shell.

I saw one person play where he constantly switched back and forth from regular view and rear, claiming that it helped him see everything around him. Seemed kind of weird, but then again everyone has their own play style.

So leading up, do you use the rear view when playing Mario Kart? And if you do, how do you use it?

Not really. There's no real use for it in MK7 anyways as long as you have the bottom screen but it's nice to have anyway. I think this was a staple in most older 3D racing games.

I think it's more essential in games like MKWii or MK8. The touch screen on MK7 and MKDS makes the rear view seem unnecessary so I could see why you wouldn't use it.

I never use it. Actually I didn't even realize, or forgot, that it existed. The map on the 3DS's touch screen is good enough for seeing who's where.

Nah, I'm pretty much sticked with the regular view. I don't really feel comfortable when I choose another view since I always have that feeling that I might bump into something or etc. Not sure for MK8 but for MK7 the bottom screen map's all you need to actually play xD ( the ink thing is practically useless :p )

I use occasionally when I'm in first place just to make sure no one is trying to come up from behind or to see if there is a shell coming at me. But I don't use it often for I tend to go slower or feel like I'll drive off the road.

MK7 doesn't have a rear view mirror @everyone talking about the uselessness of it in MK7.

I occasionally use it inMK8, although it is positioned to closely to the character, so it's hard to see.

The rear is really useful if you're gonna use a green shell to hit the opponent trying to pass you, i almost always hit someone behind me with the green shell because i know that he will pass me to get 1st place and using the rear view gave me more accuracy to hit on everyone instead of shooting to the front (since i always miss on the front view and then i get hit by my own shell :( ).

I never use rear view mode because I tend to wreck a lot while using it. Green shells can be stopped by a banana peel and do not deserve that I uh attention. Neither do red shells as they can also be stopped by any old banan peel. This is why I find rear view so useless, not to met nation all the times I have fallen in the water while staring backwards at some bumbling fool behind me. I mean, why is there even a rear view mode? For backing up? For the sake of realism? Who can know for certain what the reasoning behind this was...
