Yo all! I'm here to say that even though these are wrong, they helpus out. It's like going to a store and getting something for £50 (around $34.50 for y'all 'murrican users); but then going to the thrift shop next door and seeing that same item or something similar for £3.50.
 
I recommend that if you plan on rooting/jailbreaking your phone then you should wait by the time your service trial ends and upgrade to a new phone then root/jailbreak your old one. I used to use the iPhone 5 before I got the S4 (and now S6 edge) and since the battery life works really well I just went ahead and jailbroke it, and it still works fine today.

I am replying to this on an jailbroken device. ;) And I agree with np2016. You should definitely get a new phone before jailbreaking. No matter what anyone says, things can and do go wrong, especially if your on a later version of IOS, as apple are getting smarter and smarter when it comes to patching jailbreaks. :wtf:
 
Yup Jailbreaking is great! Free Apps, Free Netflix and Crunchyroll and many features. Including Video Pane, Multitasking on one screen, Design I really love my jail broken device. The only problem is that it takes your battery fast. Other than that I think jailbreak is awesome.

Lets remain in the legality, right ;)

Jailbreaking isn't illegal, but accessing paid services without paying isn't really though ;)

Make sure to look up reviews on the place you're going to. Cause it'll be baaaad if your device gets bricked. If they know you tried to root it, I'll void the warranty. I've heard stories of bricked phones and they're not pretteh ;_;
 
Rooting is great, sure you void a warrenty, but if you root it at a trusted source you don't have to worry about bricking your device. The possibilities of root are endless. Sent from a rooted S5 mini
 
Rooting and jailbreaking are not both wrong, rooting is actually a feature of Android. It's just companies that try to avoid the customer to root, but it's really something you're supposed to be allowed to do. Jailbreaking is another story, it's not just blocked by the company, it's completely not supposed to happen.
And due to this elementary difference, a rooted Android is safer than a jailbroken iDevice, since the root is handled by the device (it just gives you more permissions but it doesn't necessarily gives more permission to everything) while the jailbreak first needs to break the security to give you permissions...

Plus, what root gives is really just more permissions. Just think it as disabling a parental control on your device. It's not a piracy tool since you don't even need root to pirate stuff, so there is literally no reason to be against rooting, just be against piracy. And you can completely sell apps that require root (and I bought a lot of those), so yeah, it really doesn't kill any industry.

So yeah, root is great, and I have mixed feelings about the jailbreak. I mean that I would for sure jailbreak my device if I had an iDevice, but on the other hand, I would not get one exactly because of the fact it needs to be jailbroken.

Now yeah, bricked devices, that happens :p
I bricked my PMP once, got bootloops on my phone more than once, but today they both work great so that's not a problem.

Stories like this are the reason I've never bothered Jailbreaking my phone. Better safe than sorry, right? :oops:
Besides, I'm against pirating apps myself. So what are the exact benefits you gain from jailbreaking if you're not planning to do anything illegal? And is it worth the slight chance that your phone is going to end up bricked? :panda:

People also root phones so they can install a custom theme like Miui for example. Uhm.. you basically "unlock" your phone. I'm not an expert but you could do a lot of things like change the font and customize it more than before. I already think Android is customizable enough tho, so eh e.e

For me, rooting can bring many benefits, like for example, giving access to some cooling apps, or even patching my phone to grant me access to write in the SD card properly again after Android Kitkat and beyond restricted it for some reason, so it's very beneficial for me. It's best to make sure the website which tells you how to root the phone is trusted, though, just in case.

I'm too lazy to attempt jailbreaking. A kid got arrested for jailbreaking his phone before he upgraded one time for doing dumb stuff. His parents got him from the county jail tho. Overall, don't jail break, just upgrade or something

Jailbreaking is very risky, because it can totally brick your phone if not done correctly. My brother once tried to jailbreak his old LG Optimus V. He had to buy another phone after that... xD

That was probably rooting, not jailbreaking since that was an Android device. But obviously everything is dangerous if not done correctly. I can get an unusable phone if I try to send a text message by writing on my phone with a pen then throwing it to my friend who lives in another city. But if you find a tutorial and follow the steps without creating or skipping steps, nothing bad should happen (and I followed a lot of these "dangerous" tutorials, never with any problems).
