~Before you read this post, I just want to say sorry to everyone who clicked on this because the prefix was set to Mario Kart. I set it accidentally and I didn't know you could change it...
Hello everyone, so just recently I bought the first Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii just a couple of weeks ago. After playing through the game once, I was a bit confused with the ending... even though like 94% of all Mario games have the same ending. Bowser falls in lava and Mario rescues Peach. Yes, SMG had that ending but also had something else after that moment...
~For the people that already know about the ending of SMG, you can skip to the 4th paragraph~
*SPOLIERS*
For the people that watched the ending or actually played SMG themselves just saw how the game ended. Everyone gets sucked into a black hole, a bunch of stars sacrifice themselves to seal it, Rosalina talks to Mario for the last time and everything is back to normal... sort of. For the people that were confused about the ending, I shall explain.
(To support my theory, I'm going to use parts of The Gamer Theorists' videos on SMG and Cross - Over to help me, all the videos I used of his will be at the bottom of this article).
Let's go to Rosalina's speech towards the end of the game; If anything her speech is somewhat vague. In her speech she talks about how baby stars (Lumas) become new galaxies. Every time a star dies, they turn into stardust and scatter across the cosmos. Stardust would eventually reform into a new star creating another galaxy. But, not all galaxies are the exact same. Which helps us understand the next part of the ending, showing all the characters wake up in one place. Originally, all the characters lived on different planets. But now they all exist on one planet.
Now that we have the ending of SMG decoded, we now have to finish the second part of my theory. My theory is that all video games exist in one universe. So every time you die in a video game, the universe resets, making you do something different to avoid your mistake(s). Its very unlikely, but here me out.
Video games can either be connected through easter eggs or DLC. For example, You can actually connect the Mario franchise through Minecraft. Here is how...
The Mario franchise is part of Super Smash Bros. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, you can unlock Solid Snake as a playable character. Solid Snake is part of the Metal Gear series but he is also part of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (Oh god no). For people that aren't familiar to PSASBR, its basically a SSB knock off.
In PSASBR, the Big Daddy from Bioshock is in that game, but he/she/it is also a easter egg in Borderlands 2 which is located in Magny's Lighthouse area.
Borderlands 2 also has a Minecraft easter egg which is located in Caustic Caverns. There we go, we just linked the Mario franchise with Minecraft. There are tons and tons of links we can make connecting different video games but, I think we'll leave it off their. But, were still not done, there's one last thing we are forgetting. Where does Rosalina fall into all of this? Simple. Rosalina is one of the oldest characters in video game history. She has a ship that can travel the speed of light where time dilates or slows down. So 1 year on her ship could be hundreds or thousands of years on earth, which makes sense as to why she can appear in several Mario games like Party, Kart, and 3D World. Rosalina is the goddess of the video game kingdom...
